Talked to chad today about another question, and I was able to sort slip that IFS Coilover question in...He said that there HEAVILY looking into it with the HD's more than likely come out with a 7" kit first. But that statement wasn't fully planted..They know forsure everyone is ranting about it...and cant wait... I'm guessing end of next year..Well they better hurry, b4 everyone start converting to SFA...

right... im sure theres a way to just build some shock hoops and get the right size coilover made( maybe by king?) and bolt them from the hoop to the LCA. Right? correct me if im wrong... and then get rid of the t-bars and all that junk!

Pics of the coilover setup on the NBS 1500. Looks just to be a redesigned UCA for clearence of the coilover, but the coilover is bolted to the stock shock location. Correct me if im wrong.

There's alot more work involved with making a truck run coilovers especially ours seeing how these damn trucks literally weight a ton! lol Mounting to the coil bucket on our trucks won't work (A) Not strong enough and (B) you'd have to run a drop kit on top of it to try to get a coilover mounted that low. So it'll take alot more R&D which I'm sure Cognito will invest but it takes trial and error to make sure it works properly before making it into a production kit. I'm sure its something saught after seeing how everyone wants one including me :p:

hey nick, is this just a new shock product, kinda like the the dual shock set up is an individual product, or is it built in with the kit? basically what I'm asking is, will I be able to buy this setup and replace the dual shocks with it?

you are correct. i have done many factory replacements as far as the full strut and coils on the o7 and o8 chevy half tons at work... i do know that they dont hold up as well off road as the torsion bars do on older models. but im sure something aftermarket like what we will be running will have less problems... hopefully!

Yes that is what will have to be done but it will also have to be super stong with lots of frame connection points to keep from flexin nder heavy use. the other issue is that im not sure the stock LCA will be able to sustain the load of the truck on that lower shock mount. I have a feelin it will break right there.

Wieght is really not that big an issue (im really lookin into buildin bolt in coilover kits for our trucks but it probably wont be so bolt in upon my testing). You will have to cut out the the upper factory shock mount to make any coilover kti work on a stock hieght truck. i was tryin to make a shock work on a stock truck, called king, fox, and sway-a-way to try and get a shock made but the issue is the performace wont be there due to such a short shock travel. Im designin up some shock hoops that will be strong enough and i mean strong enough you could run baja in, and lookin at how i am gunna design a LCA. the LCA will be the biggest pain as im not sure if i wanna build it out of plate steel or some thick walled chromoly tubing. We shall see i guess. I may try both.

Weight is a huge factor! With that much weight and trying to support it with out running a shock hoop is hard. Thats where design comes into play cause there is absolutely no room for making a shock hoop that will connect with one another by going over the motor. Some could say yes but the more you steer from being a straight brace, the weaker it is and almost becomes obsolete. All I can say is take your time with design and making sure it'll be strong enough and by no means will these trucks ever be full blown desert worthy but definitely something that will hang off road. Not saying its not possible but not unless someone has some serious cash to invest in taking the risk. Just my thoughts.

do all half tons have the sway bar behind all the control arms and stuff like that?

1500's are completely different. Same configuration as the 2500's but all the suspension is different....mounting points, steering, knuckles, etc......its like comparing apples and oranges.

Oh maybe i didnt quite say it right but ill have to build a new shock tower and ditch the factory shock locations. To me, makin the shock towers hold the weight is not that big a deal as ive done it before on other trucks and on race trucks. I have been workin on designin this for over a year now. Your right in that the truck will not be full blown desert worthy but the parts that i will supply will should out last the stock parts on the truck when heavily abused. Cognito may beat me out with their kit but i am trying to make this kit as cheap, user friendly, and best quality as possible (yeah i know, every company tries to follow those guide lines, but me bein so small its easier for me to make things cheaper with great quality).
