I have been issued an ultimatum of a deadline of 5:00 PM EST 04/19/05
by a DieselPlace member.

Fact: 09/03/03 Mackin purchases a Sun Coast Stage III kit. Mackin and buddy Joe Burkhart install it in Mackin's truck.

Fact: Mackin and Joe remove and fail to reinstall the rear brg retaining snap ring in rear hsg.
Results: P1 sun gear retainer slides back and contacts C-3 pressure plate, P-3 planet carrier attempts to demolish C-5 piston. Lots and lots of metal.

Fact: Mackin and Joe decide not to use the special converter bolts that came with the torque converter and reuse factory bolts (longer) because there were no external markings instructing them not to. DUH?
Result: deformation of clutch surface in torque converter

Fact: Sun Coast ships new converter @ NO CHARGE and ships C-3 pressure plate, C-3 piston, C-3 frictions, C-3 steels, C-2 frictions, C-2 steels, and C-5 piston for cost. $365.07

Fact: After Mack & Joe installs parts and install retaining ring and torque converter(with correct bolts) trans still not right because LU-BST valve sticking(valve defective?) Given benefit of the doubt Sun Coast ships complete C-1/C-2 rotating module with (2) sump filters and (2) spin-on filters @ NO CHARGE for parts. Mackin pays freight only.

Fact: after Mack & Joe install, Mack smokes C-1 clutches.

11/14/03 In an attempt to stop this insanity Sun Coast instructs Mack to ship trans to them. Mack says he wants to upgrade to billet C-1/C-2, piston assy.
at cost $800. Sun Coast disassembles, cleans, reassembles with all needed parts, including new filters, cuts & cleans torque converter and installs billet piston assy at
NO CHARGE. Mack pays freight and cost for billet assy only.

04/18/05 Mack has trans problems again. Not sure of what and cause of failures because no one has diagnosed or inspected.
mack finally calls Sun Coast. Sun Coast tells Mack to ship trans and they will fix at NO CHARGE. Mack says no deal, he demands that Sun Coast make arrangements with a local GM dealer in his area to remove, and ship trans,
Sun Coast is to repair at no charge and pay his dealer for R&R, fluid, and freight.

Mack pm's Sun Coast and informs them that if they do not adhere to his demands by 5:00 PM EST he will initate a thread on the Diesel PLace informing the world that Sun Coast refused to reward his incompetence.

Mack, its only 10:30 AM CST so I hope we made your deadline.

I'm not sure - but I get the impression that this is not a positive thread. Maybe I'm reading it wrong

On a side note I hope everybody takes a breather, settles down and works everything out for a positive outcome that caters to both sideds. I hope a missunderstanding dosnt turn into a knockdown drag out with long term repercussions.

You may be in the right....you may not (only you and Mackin will ever know).
I am "newbie" here, but have been lurking for a LONG time even before I joined from reading post other people copied and sent to me (one of the reasons for joining).

I have seen several vendors swallow their pride in order to help customers (even if the customers were "wrong"). I'm not saying you should have to pay for others incompetence (not saying Mackin was), as that does not make good business sense, but you could have tried to settle it behind the scenes first.

I know you and Mackin probably have gone back and forth behind closed doors and there is much that we will probably never know. I know he "may" have threatened to bring it to the forum, but for you to air the "dirty laundry" first says something about you/your business. To me it's something a grade schooler would do ("I'm telling Mom on you.......").

My .02 (take it for what it's worth.....probably not much  )

This might be one of those threads worth deleting.
