: Wife + Diesel = What to get
huntsalot 04-19-2005, 01:00 AM Ok guys I have a 4.5 LLY 4x4 the only thing I wish I could change is for it not to over heat and more room inside. That being said I want to buy a diesel for my wife. The reason being is that we make Biodiesel at or plant so fuel price for her car would drop A WHOLE LOT.she is driving a surburban now ,she loves the room in the ford super duty which I do too. I think the only thing its missing is onstar & ( XM Radio ) ( Easy to add later ) . I was wondering what all of your wifes liked before you bought your trucks and If you were to buy one for your wife what would she want. :grd:
coyotekid 04-19-2005, 01:42 AM What to get--diesel or wife? That's a no brainer man, go for the diesel!
Seriously though, is a VW Jetta even up for consideration? They have a great rep and get awesome fuel mileage.
I want to dump my mini-van and take my Hubby's Big Blue and have him buy himself another Duramax. Big Blue has just about as much storage room inside as my mini-van..
Then again I'm not normal http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/lol.gif
coyotekid 04-19-2005, 02:23 AM Hey, babes in trucks are hot!:D
If I ever find a girl that digs Hoyt Axton and loves diesel trucks, I may propose to her on the spot.
dncasey 04-19-2005, 05:40 AM My wife is going to Europe to pick up our new Mercedes 320 CDI next month. Saved about 3k with Euro pick up. She needed to go there anyway. The car is supposed to get 37 mpg and go 0-60 in about 7 seconds. Faster than the gasser version which burns premium unleaded. Great car.
JakeGMCHD 04-19-2005, 05:48 AM My wife drives the 04.5 in my sig. Didn't have to convince her to get it. She's waiting for the Suburban to come with a diesel.
Slide 04-19-2005, 07:54 AM My wife loves my Crew Cab. May not be quite as big as the Ford but my 4x4 rides a lot better than the 4x2 Fords we test drove. With the fold down rear seat it makes for quite a bit of space. With the front 60/40 bench we can seat six.
JJs DuMax 04-19-2005, 10:52 AM Kat, who's to say what's normal? From what I've read of your posts you sound like the perfect wife! ;) If there are any "little kats" running around it wouldn't surprise me if you and the hubby had a turbo-charged stroller for the kiddies! ):h
huntsalot, that Mercedes Benz sure sounds nice! This way you would have a kick-ass, nice riding sedan for the coat/tie crap, churchie stuff, etc., and the beast to tackle any large projects, towing, etc. JJ :)
newbiegirl 04-19-2005, 01:13 PM No one had to ask me twice. Once the test drive was over I was more than sold.
mahalkita 04-19-2005, 03:37 PM My wife likes the fact that this truck is really heavy duty. She has driven real diesel Landcruisers before - but here in the U.S. only the Wally World shopping type SUV Cruiser is available so she settled for the much bigger much cheaper and more powerfull dmax. She also selected the biggest 4 inch nerf bars from Putco....seems small women like big trucks... :ro)
Terrain Twister 04-19-2005, 03:47 PM My wife would prefer my truck any day.
dncasey 04-19-2005, 04:05 PM JJs Du Max
Thats right. My wife loves to drive my 04.5 DMax. But she likes the sedan for obvious reasons. I wanted the diesel in the Benz. With the power and the quietness (before the MBRP exhaust) she liked my truck. I drive the Dmax because of the towing, milage and comfort. We test drove the Benz and loved it. Had a '99 E300 turboDiesel which I should never have sold to buy the Z350.
I was waiting for MB to release the new diesel which had been discontinued since 1999 due to California restrictions if not mistaken. We both like the trucks, both Dmax diesels but do want a sedan occasionally. It is not much more $ than a maxed out truck. Whatever floats your boat.
aka108 04-19-2005, 04:38 PM If I were to trade my wife's Mercedes in on a truck she'd cut of my and shove them up my. ie, she would not be pleased to say the least. She likes the truck OK but no ones messes with the Mercedes. It's her baby like the truck is mine. Glad that it is that way because we get along just great.
huntsalot 04-19-2005, 11:03 PM She wants a truck and like I said we get Bio Diesel for nothing she does not want a sedan because of the kids. Also someone said there wife is waiting for the dmax in the suburban ( Is this tue)) if so I will wait too.
Biterman 04-20-2005, 09:05 AM I notice my wife at 5'3" find excessive excuses to take my truck whenever possible. She won't admit it, but I think she likes it better than her 'Burb.
Well I wish I was driving Big Blue last night.
