MY 2002 duramax 6.6 smokes alittle at idle, no power problems or starting problem.I have the edge on power level one and lowest smoke. Is there a resonable limit to smoke at idle?My next question is is there anyone in western Massachusetts who can check injectors and do repairs at a resonable cost. The edge is on so I doubt any dealer would do the warrenty repair and it looks like you cant get the edge system out without the dealer knowing it was in

You should be able to remove the Edge module. But if your injectors are bad, the dealer must prove the Edge unit caused the failure, in writing, which they will not do because they cannot prove it. Programmers are not a cause of injector failure.
Take it to the dealer. Likely more than one dealer to find a friendly one.
Any time injector pulse widths, timing, fuel pressure are raised, smoking is likely. Other items could cause smoke. Fuel quality, dirty filters, dirty maf sensor, fuel leaks or coolant leaks under the hood.

did replace the fuel filter recently and I add powerservice at every tank. anyone know of a friendly chevy dealer willing to look at injectors in Massachusetts or a good diesel mechanic in western MA. I might try and remove the edge unit pull the attitude monitor and hope for the best.might not have a problem yet as fuel ecconomy is around 16-17 mpg mixed driving.

I take my truck to Burke Whitaker in Northampton, Mass...and if you have a programmer or tuned it...They don't care about that...as long as you have under 200,000 miles you should be able to get new injectors...if you have any other questions....just pm me...
