Can you just buy a optic sensor and what is the part number?

Yes you can buy it ~$240 M&D distributing had them.
Just take out the old one and put the new one in.

shouldn't take too long to replace either. search for optic sensor in the archives. you'll find some helpfull threads with better descriptions than I can give right now.

better yet buy a few old cores on ebay, one will have a good optic.
