Finally got rid of my smoke problem! I had an 04 LLY with an Isuzu fuel control, (the box on the front passenger side of the motor) and the motor poured out excessive black smoke (see "LLY Excessive Smoke"). GM kept an open case file for me but could not remedy the problem. I.E. no code, no work would be performed on engine.

I had enough of the cloud machine so I test drove and then swapped for an 05 3500LT Dooley and wunderbar, no more smoke! The only external engine component difference I noticed was the Bosch controller on the 05.

Drop the hammer all the way, nothing, towing a load, nothing, Juiced level 1, nothing. Clean, and efficient as it was desiged to be. I'm finally pleased with my DMAX.

Do those of you with excessive black and/or white smoke have Isuzu controllers????

Hmm.. That is interesting.. Mine has a Bosch part number sticker on it, although it says isuzu on it as well.. Never had black smoke when stock. Some blue when cold, but not black.
