I got my truck out of hibernation and up to the barn to work on it. It wont shift at all, its always in the same gear no matter where you have the shift lever. 1,2,3,d and od is all the same gear. I can get up to 45mph so I think its stuck in 2nd and reverse works fine. I heard if the transmission looses power this will happen. Before this happened over about a month it kept shifting at higher and higher rpms until it finaly wouldnt shift at all.
Anyone know what the problem is or what I should check? The fluid is fine, not low and not burnt.

You Pmd me on the details. Code 59 is high transmission fluid temp sending unit.
Code 81 is defective 2-3 shifting solenoid circuit.
Actually before you act on the advice I replied to with. I would check all grounds and render them squeaky, shiny clean.
Recharge the battery.
Inspect the connection going through to the transmission for leaks.
Then if all fails:
Get new shifting solenoids and internal wiring. + Transmission fluid temp sensor.

I had the same problem on my burb and with my snap-on dealers truck turned out both were fixed with a simple fuse. check the trans fuse see if its blown. replace it if it is if it blows again you probally need a harness and selenoids

I stole the TCM from a freinds truck and put it in mine, as soon as I had it plugged in I checked for codes and still got 59 and 81 off the new TCM even though I never ran the truck. I couldnt clear the codes off this TCM either and it still font shift from 2nd gear.
