I have a 2008 LMM with 6k miles that I bought at the end of Oct. 2008. Today was 5th visit to the dealer. First time, the check engine light was on because of an EGR temp sensor. When it was cold, the truck went into limp mode twice. I washed the truck this weekend and notice the clear coat was flaking off all of the wheels. Now they want to recoat them.

I really wonder if I made the right choice by getting this Chevy. I owned a 2002 Ford F250 with a 7.3L with 80k miles and not once did I take that truck to the dealer for any sort of repair. this one is driving me nuts.

Any new rig is bound to have a few bugs - once they are worked out you are home free. Mine threw a 4x4 code before I got in it to drive away at delivery - New TCM and no problems since other than known recalls. Sweet ride.

The more I think about it, the more I think I should have kept my '06 LLY. I do like my LMM, but I think it is the emision crap that is pissing me off the most. The 7.3L is a real good truck. Thought of making my wife's uncle an offer when he sold his a few years back. I hope you are done with your problems with your LMM.

Same problem with the wheels on my LMM. They also wanted to refinish my wheels. If you are stern and tell them that you don't want refinished wheels they should replace them with new ones and give you some line about that they are doing it due to "customer satisfaction". I just told them that I didn't pay 40 some thousand dollars for a brand new truck to have 2 refinished wheels and 2 new wheels, that was all it took to get my point across. I hope that helps you out some.

My father in law has an 06 duramax LLY and he is always complaining about the steering column popping and all the dealer can do is grease it. My LMM doesn't have that problem. I believe that every truck has the potential to have problems. I bought a 94 chevy and drove it for 100k miles without every having anything go wrong. I bought a 98 chevy and it had terrible electrical problems. Turned out to be a bad blower motor in the HVAC. Once that was fixed, its been a great truck.

Even Fords and Dodges have problems. Your truck biggest potential problem will be your dealer/mechanic. Find a good one and you will love your truck.

12,000 miles and the only thing was the ECM reflash recall and the PCV issue with the oil on the turbo boot. I am at the present very happy. Let me add this, it is made by one of the Detroit three. I hope they made it better than some of the crap that has gotten them in the trouble they are in now. I hate to admit but I have a little voice in the back of my mind: "not if but when" THINKING OUT LOUD

With 33,000 miles on the odo the only warranty issue I've had is with the wheels. I allowed them to refinish all four and they actually look better than the factory clearcoating.

Did they send your wheels out to have them refinished? If you get a chance could I would like to see those wheels, if you wouldn't mind snapping a few pictures.

yes, I would like to see some pictures too. Now if they were to polish them, I would be all for it.

Yes, they dismounted the tires and sent the wheels to a local shop that refinishes wheels here in the Houston area. Like I said, they did a pretty damn good job. The clear looks thicker and the wheels really pop now. I had been thinking of getting the 17" factory wheels for a while but now that these look as good as they do, I'm keeping 'em.

I want to go back to the dealer and ask for the name and number to the shop so I can refinish the wheels on my firebird.

I'll take a pic this evening.

That's great. I'd like to trust my dealer to do the same but I'm just uncertain as to how they would turn out. I guess I could always ask for the name of the people that they deal with and tell them I want to see pictures of some of their work before I make my final decision. I just hate that my wheels are peeling because they really are a nice looking stock wheel.

Also...if you have your wheels refinished does this show up on the vehicle history in the VIN? I was just thinking about that myself and came back here to edit my post and ask the question. ?

I had all of mine replaced. All 4 rear wheels...ha, nah, I rotated since the first set was replaced, then the rears peeled again. I've had mine in for the recalls, the door lever on the outside popping out, limp mode from the snow in the airbox, and my heated washer fluid button not working. I consider myself pretty picky about things. The dealer I use is over 1/2 hour away, but to have things right I don't mind. I figure everything is going to have it's little quirks here and there, and be lucky RSNovi your problems are only kinda minor. There are still lemon laws out there for a reason.

Now the district GM guy is demanding pictures of the wheels. They have never heard of such a problem? I guess all of us on here are just the outliers.

The dealership is trying to be helpful and demanding new wheels so I like that.

the district manager is fullofshit...this is a common problem. I have the 17" wheels on my truck and so far no issues but my buddy has the 16" pyo wheels and the clear is peeling off. He is also fighting w/ his dealer. don't give up

Part of the problem is the mentality of assuming that every new vehicle is bound to have some "little" problems. If you accept that premise then you shouldn't complain when it happens. The fact is the American auto industry has tried to make the consumer their Beta tester. It allows them to save tons of money on poorly trained assemblers and even poorer dealership pre-delivery inspections. Read the posts about low diff. oil levels among other "small" problems. Multiply the cost of a half quart of diff. oil times over 100K trucks a year and you can see how it's not a "small" problem. Think of how much they add to the cost of the truck for the pre-delivery inspection and how you feel when the salesman checks off all the boxes on the check list without ever seeing the truck. It's also the reason why the big 3 automakers are heading for the dumper and Toyota and Honda have just about taken over. When you pay more money it's not unreasonable to expect more quality. In 1973 I bought a brand new, loaded F-250, out the door for $3,300.00. In 2007 my truck was almost $40,000.00 with a list price of about 50K. I can't say I notice a significant difference in overall quality. If that's not bad enough, In 1947 my dad bought a 10" RCA, black & white television set for $3,000.00. Last year I bought a 37" color, LCD,HD TV for about $800.00. Now that's progress! Oh, and where do you think it was made?

Sorry it took so long but some rains here in Houston wouldn't let me wash my truck. I thought the pics would turn out better but the wheels do look much better in person.

These were refinished under warranty by a place here in Houston.

I had mine refinished several months ago (all four)....and they still look better than the day that I bought the truck. Only time will tell if they last and go the distance....but they are sure nice now.

Sometimes I feel I should've kept my 06 Ford 6.0. Never had any issues with it and it drove great. I like my new Chevy but wish I would've waited till they fixed exerything with them.
