Is there any reason why the hose goes all the way to the fuel filler neck?

Is is possible to cut it shorter or will the fluid spray out?


I ask because the seals seem to keep leaking and I have the hose zipp tied up and out of the way with what appears to me to have no dips in it.

Its hard to get it on a constant slope and stay that way.

Mine is an 05, I'll check

05 is the same way. It looks like it is set up that way to keep the vent high and dry. Although other trucks I have had didn't go so far away from the axle. If the line and fittings are clear of obstructions and kinks and air can pass through it you should be OK.
