I have developed a louder than normal ticking sound from the motor. under normal operation while maintaining constant speed I hear a random ticking sound like a marble bouncing around. this sound is not continuous but present and very repeatable. I also have a medium vibration which appears only under acceleration. I cannot feel the vibration as strong while accelerating at speed, 50 mph +, but I do feel a much lighter vibration at higher frequency.
This truck had a tank full of gas a few months ago. these noises started then and are getting stronger and louder.
Any help would be great as the gas station is responsible if I can relate the problem to the gas in the tank.
Thanks for all the help

The marble bouncing and slight vibration sounds very symptomatic of bad "U" joints. I'd check them all, front and rear shaft and half-shafts too. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
prior to starting this thread I checked the drive shaft u-joints, "I thought" they were ok now today one is squeaking. Easy enough to fix. thanks
Now for the ticking..(marble bouncing around randomly) I did not explain it right. the ticking sounds like a very quiet pre ignition ping form a gas engine. It will happen when there is a slight increase in throttle or load like when going up an incline. I do not remember this sound before the gasoline incident. but then again I did not have any reason to listen for strange noises. there is also a louder ticking sound from the motor that is all the time. Almost sounds like a lifter slightly out of adjustment.
could these noises be normal and I just noticed them because I am paranoid form the gas.

Could you have bent something that should be straight? Con rod, push rod?

i think the pre ignition your describing is normal mine does it also not exesively though how much gas went trough the motor ( till it stopped running ) how long and how bad did that sound ?

it could also have an injector going bad, when mine went bad it was starting to sound like an exhaust leak on a gasser, it was getting louder as i drove. i shut the truck off half way on a 2000 mile trip to check the oil and one or two off the injectors happened to stick wide open. the truck would not start so halled it to dealership and replaced all injectors and things were all better.

it had 1/4 tank of diesel when it was filled up. It was drove for approx 5 miles when I noticed it was pinging loud and did not have as much power as normal. It was driven for approx another mile easily and then shut off. It did not stop itself. The day was very cold so it did not get hot. I was under the impression the fuel delivery system was the most likely component to be damaged. just want to make sure it is ok before it is forgotten about by the gas station that pumped the gas into it.
thanks
