Went to take the daughter out for driving practice last night:eek: , no power steering or brakes on my 05,WTF??? Looked at the shop floor and there was a oil slick, popped the hood and fluid was dripping out of the resavoir cap??? Opened the cap and it hissed like air rushing in and now the power assist works. Any Ideas? Truck has 5400 miles on it.

I have a 05 CC Dually I dont have that prob but my power steering howls bigtime and gets worse when I step on the breaks.

Sounds like a valve is hanging up. I would have it checked out by a pro.

gm has the power steering and the power brakes run off the same pump. back in the old days the brakes where vacuum assist. my question is there anyway you can raise the pump pressure sothat your steering doesnt get tight when you apply the brakes. it kind of ruins the whole anti-lock brake theory of not locking up the tires and sterring out of an accedent if you cant steer when you hit the brakes. ya think so if any r&d team has any ideas i'm all ears

Mine did something almost the same. Had the power steering system flushed . No more probs. Seems there is a valve in there that starts sticking. Oh yeah, fluid that they took out looked BLACK. Hope this helps. :cool: :driver:
