: Changes at Heath Diesel!!!
16gaSxS 04-18-2005, 05:04 PM I talked with Bill Heath last week and he told me he was making changes in his business. I checked his website today and he must have implemented those changes. HEATH DIESEL is ONLY SUPPORTIMG GM 6.5TD. No DuraBux, No PowerSmoke, No Cummings. Bill told me that his World Wide 6.5TD business is by far the lions share of his business and made the move to drop the other lines so as to concentrate on current and NEW 6.5TD products.
I think this is very good news to those of us who won't or can't buy DuraBux trucks. Thanks for the ongoing support Bill!
:cool2:
Dr.Diesel 04-18-2005, 07:14 PM Wow, that is surprising!
Silvy 04-18-2005, 07:35 PM I noticed his website too! It's been set up with only 6.5 diesel stuff for about a week now. I was wondering what happened. That surprises me though because I didn't realize that he had such a large market for the 6.5.
bowtie 04-18-2005, 08:58 PM WOW I'm Impressed with that change, most others would have went the other way.
SuperTuscan 04-18-2005, 09:03 PM That's great! Now, we just need Fluidampr and a couple other manufaturers to follow Bill's lead and develop products for a strong 6.5 market instead of going after lines that are already well supported.
dmitch 04-18-2005, 09:04 PM Bill is a good guy. Has helped me many times and I have used some of his products. Actually good news to a guy like me that hates to part with the truck!
customizedcreations 04-18-2005, 10:48 PM Interesting as I have to mimic what was said. Most people would go with numerous lines , rather then just one. I tried that 3 times and found it wasnt possible. Now all we have to do is back Bill with his decision. I can say in the real Pontiac V8 world, that things have never been better, with the dedication of a few individuals, now there are aftermarket blocks , heads and other parts that never existed a few years ago. If there is enough demand for a part, people will build it. Which is one reason why I am building a intake setup with intercooler and hood. I constantly hear how people want a intercooler, but have to buy one for $1400 or more and put it right where its going to get ruined with one bad curb.
Hopefully Bills decision works out for him. I ve bought a few used things that where his, and called him and he helped me out with them. Bill is a customer service guy no question about it. A+ in my book.
I was already a big supporter of Bill Heath, and now I will go out of my way to show him his decision was a GOOD one. Every day the products from other vendors for the 6.5 is getting less and less, and NEW products are unheard of. With super diesels at and above $45K(a fact that will only get worse as time goes on) I will continue to cherish my 6.5, which would only cost me $3000 to replace( $3000 won't even buy a set of injectors for a new diesel!). Thanks Bill I will be visiting your site again soon!
DieselChick 04-19-2005, 09:08 AM I just purchased my first mods from Heath yesterday, he was extremely helpful and informative as to what should be the first things I should purchase. SO next week we will get the parts and see how she does. With Bill's guidance we decided our first mods would be the Maxi Tork and TurboMaster, 3" Exhaust, and Severe duty fan and clutch. He felt really strongly that this would help our truck out immensely and then later we could add other mods. A GREAT BIG THANKS TO HEATH FOR SUPPORTING THE 6.5 CROWD> KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
quantum mechanic 04-19-2005, 09:34 AM Heath's definitely one of the good guys. :D
He'll help you whether you're buying from him or just curious about things and looking for a kind word or two to set your mind at ease.
Dave 2001 04-19-2005, 11:28 AM I sent him this email the other day:
Hi.. I'm interested in your reprogram ECM. I want to keep my vacuum wastegate.. Do I have to use your turbomaster with your ECM? Also, I live in Vancouver, BC and make trips to Seattle weekly.. Is it possible I can just drive to your store and exchange my ECM in the parking lot without paying the core?
Thanks for your time
then he sent me this:
Hello Dave,
We are located about 2-hours east of Seattle in Ellensburg, WA. We certainly could do the ECM changout for you if you like. This would give us an opportunity to check fuel lift pump pressure and to do the timing procedure for you. These must be right in order to optimize the ECM programming and we would do these for you at no charge.
I hope you find this helpful, Dave. However you must feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Best regards
Bill
I've never bought anything from him before so he sounds like he is totally willing to help me out. I will go with his ECM just because of his customer service and the fact that he is close to me.
SnowDrift 04-19-2005, 03:16 PM Dave,
You won't be displeased. Bill's one heck of an honest businessman. I believe you'll be happy with what he offers.

DieselChick 04-26-2005, 02:25 PM We got our first set of mods installed yesterday from Heath - the Maxi-Tork, Turbomaster, fan and clutch. We installed them and while we had it down we blew out the radiator and removed the snorkle from the air box. All I can say is wow my baby has power. We took her up this steep incline empty that normally slows her down and from a stopped position she climbed the hill we started at 0 and ended at 60 at the top of the hill and with very little effort. Can't wait to see what happens when we put in the exhaust and kick out the Cat tonight. Then this weekend we will see how she does with the trailer. :ro) :ro) :ro)
CanadianRigger 04-26-2005, 02:36 PM I hope you got gauges too! Pryo & Boost is of utmost importance to help keep your right foot in check...
Silvy 04-26-2005, 04:05 PM Couldn't agree more with CanadianRigger. DieselChick, you may have noticed a topic called "sage advice" in this 6.5 forum right now. I don't mean to take away your thunder but by adding the extra fuel and boost, your also packing more heat. I just had boost/pyro done a couple of days ago and am very happy with the result besides a small boost leak after the install. Congrats on getting the mods put in:ro)
DieselChick 04-26-2005, 04:31 PM I know about the guages but baby steps fellows baby steps - the first thing we had to do was get my truck running correctly it has been a slug these last few months and we needed to put in the turbomaster to correct the constantly opened wastegate, the fan and clutch was to just keep her cooler but I don't think that will have any major effect until we get the exhaust in which need replaced because their is a hole in it and I can bet you ten to one that the cat is pretty plugged. We have the CDR coming in tomorrow which needed replaced. We aren't doing any heavy hauling yet just trying to get her running the way she should be. The eprom was a better deal when bought with the turbomaster that is why we picked it up. And don't worry Silvy you can't stomp my thunder - when my truck drove like it was suppose to without have to lay the pedal to the floor I couldn't be happier, we we'll make sure we have her all geared up before we make the big haul.
Silvy 04-27-2005, 12:22 PM glad to hear its running good:) That fan and clutch seems like it would make a pretty big difference in cooling too. I think I will take the plunge like you did and get a chip. The main thing right now is $$, need to save up first):h
DieselChick 04-28-2005, 01:53 PM We finished up on the our mods yesterday - Nate used his buddies lift to put the exhaust on and beat out the cat. The only thing I can say is SHOW ME THE POWER!!!!!This babies got more balls then I thought it could ever have. The true test will be how she pulls the trailer up the road. I haven't got a change to kick the turbo in yet (slow pokes on the way to work) but Nate said that it is incredible. He could believe how much more power there was with the change of exhaust (he was a little skeptical at first when I was telling him that should help truck from what I had read) but is is a believer now. Maybe the 6.5 won't be so bad after all. But we got everything that needed fixed done and now the truck should run much better and hopefully getting better fuel mileage (empty 14 mpg with a ladies foot) Heath quickly answer every question we had and I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to improve their truck. (Neighbor up the road has a couple - I think he will crap his draws when he sees how good this one is doing)
THANKS HEATH AND THANKS MARTY FOR REFERRING ME TO HIM:ro)
16gaSxS 04-28-2005, 06:36 PM THANKS HEATH AND THANKS MARTY FOR REFERRING ME TO HIM:ro)
I have always been a sucker for a damsel in distress!:knight:
I happy you two got your truck running well they are soo much fun when they reach there potential.
BornReady6.5 05-12-2005, 04:24 PM Well, looks like I'll be changing my signature soon.
Just got off the phone with Mr. Heath and all I can say is what a great guy. About a week ago I inquired about a reflashed ECM and I messed up my e-mail address. I didnt hear anything fom him for 2 days and thought to myself....nice customer service. Anyway, on the 3rd day he called me on my cell phone!!! I was taken by surprise that he would take the time to track me down. Anyway, I have officially ordered the Maxi-Torque reflashed ECM, heath boost controller and remote mount PMD. The only reason I ordered the remote mount pmd (because i already have one from SS) is because my PMD died yesterday coming back from Tucson. Luckly I still had the one mounted to my IP.
I will say the SS diesel PMD cooler did allow me a extra summer out of my PMD, but with 7 year warrenty, I figured I couldnt lose.
I still have great respect for Walt at SS diesel Supply, but was blown away at Bill and his knowledge. I must have been on the phone with him for a hour.
I will keep you all posted on how it transforms my truck, because I wont be able to sleep till my goodies get here.
Remember, we 6.5 guys need to support ANY vendor that is willing to go the extra mile and even stock items for our trucks. I get so sick of searching for products only to find the certain vendor caters to new trucks. Someday, i'll trade my ole 97 in for a d-max or something...but I gotta make it last until then, when these new trucks are affordable. IMHO
Billman 05-12-2005, 04:34 PM I think it's More important to support the vendors who support this site.
SSDiesel is not here.
Neither is Heath.
Any particular reason Heath is not here as a supporting vendor, TD?
Dave 2001 05-12-2005, 05:42 PM Although I agree with you about supporting sponsor here.. I think if everyone had the same product at about the same price then I would go with the sponsor site, but if they don't have the same product then what can you do? Also, I like supporting Heath because he only does 6.5 now.. SS is the same way.. Kennedy likes his D-Max (not that I blame him)
I think it's more important to buy what you believe is the best to get the job done. For instance.. Even though I like SS.. I would never buy there PMD cooler. I did buy there intake system and used it for 2 month then sold it.

BornReady6.5 05-12-2005, 05:54 PM AMEN. I agree with both you guys. I would never have gotten this far without this site. But I am not/never through tweeking on my truck. Kennedy has a intercooler as wll as some other goodies I've been eyeing for some time. But its gotta be done according to my wallet/wife. SS Diesel, Heath and kennedy will always have my buisness...oh, and Ebay from time to time.
I was just merely telling ya'll about my awesome experience with heath. I couldnt get that kinda service at wal-mart!:)

nvmtnlion 05-12-2005, 06:01 PM I agree, to get all the goodies, you have to go all the aforementioned vendors. Customer service goes a long way. JK comes on here and TDP and helps people. Bill and Walt both are great on the phone and I am sure in person as well.
Supporting the supporting vendors is the right thing to do when you can. When ya can't.. support the guys who support your rigs!
jspringator 05-12-2005, 08:26 PM Am I mistaken or has the water injection system been removed from Heath's site? Maybe he will stock a cheaper intercooler!
16gaSxS 05-12-2005, 09:12 PM I have no idea why Heath is not a sponsor here, I have suggested it too him as I am sure others have. He does at the TDP which I'm a long time member (1996) and that where my first loyalty is. I think JK is great asset to both sites, I think John is also a good businessman, I think Heath is GREAT businessman.
The Water Injection I think will be back I talked to Bill couple of weeks ago and I was think of making a trip to see him and and friend on the East side of the Cascades. He told me he was making changes (ie improvments) to it soon as soon as he could get a parts issue worked out. Bill is dealing with a large company and is trying to be patient with their time lines.. I would guess either he closer at getting his upgraded system up or he decieded to remove the old one until the new upgrade is ready.
95yukon 05-12-2005, 10:15 PM I've talked to Bill and he's been great to deal with. I have been trying to create a "cookbook" exhaust install on my 2dr 95 Yukon which I plan to have documented step by step procedures of - with photos. Bill has offered components and even recommended possible solutions that he didn't sell - that's really going the extra step. Options are limited when you don't need a muffler or downpipe, and most tailpipes are too long for the Yukon/Tahoe 2door body.
With respect to intercoolers - the person who integrates an intercooler into the radiator will have the ultimate solution. I've worked with a company who creates special radiators for buses and the solution is not as difficult as one might think. Intercoolers underneath - not for offroad hunting that I do. Not a good location for offroading.
