Okay, I'm hoping y'all can help me figure out how to get my SES light off. So I noticed the diagnostic section, am I supposed to answer those questions so y'all can help me figure it out or am I supposed to be able to use it somehow to figure it out myself?

Normally you post it on here (after filling it out) so we know symptoms and try to help you out.

Gotcha.
0. Describe in detail the problem you are having. Please be as descriptive as possible.
It's just the SES light. Well, it doesn't always start the first time.
1. Does the engine crank, or 'turn over'?
yes, no problem
1a. Does the engine start and run?
yes. It runs well.
1a1. If the engine does not start - Crack injector line: do you have fuel? Yes/No
1b. Do you have a Wait To Start Light & the amount of time (seconds) lit.
It seems like it starts best if I start it immediately after the glow plug light turns off.
1c. Ambient Condition (temperature outside indicate F or C) _____ °
75 degrees farenheight.
1d. Engine Cranking speed (if you have an accurate tachometer).
Don't know
1e. Are you experiencing stalling?
no.
1f. If Stalling, describe (upon startup only, down the road, hit a bump etc)
1g. If Stalling, do you notice loss of dash or instruments?
-note if experiencing stalling, you must indicate PMD location in #24.
1h. Check turbo inlet and air filter for obstructions. Cone filters have lost disk and stopped air to turbo.
1i. In a no-hot start, pour a bottle of room-temp water on the injection pump. Does it start now? yes/no
1.1 Lift pump test - describe results
2. Service Engine Light while running?- on/off/intermittent
Intermittent
2a. Service Engine light does glow during start/cranking/bulb check: Yes/No
yes
3. Model year
1994
3a. Odometer reading (indicate if in miles or km)
216000 miles
3b. Miles on major engine components if been replaced (example Injection pump)
I don't know. I just got it.
3c. Indicate the model number on the Injection pump (starts DS4 or DB2......)
4. Have you scanned for engine codes? (varies by pre/post 96) yes/no
yes
5. List exact results on engine codes:
33 and 34
6. Air Filter condition (visual check)
clean
7. Fuel filter condition (freshly changed/condition unknown/mileage since changed)
I just changed it.
8. Condition of Battery terminal connections (removed, cleaned and tightened)
they're clean and knarled, I guess for better connection.
8a. Known condition and age of the batteries.
They look new, but that's just because they're clean.
8b. Are batteries of differing age or are they a matched set?
8c. Condition of Major Grounds. (same drill as batt - removed, cleaned, retightened)
Could probably use some cleanup.
9. Upon cold start, does the radiator hose get hard quickly? Yes/no
I haven't checked that.
10. Upon cold start, do you have excessive white smoke? Yes/no
No.
11. Do you have excessive cranking time before the engine starts?
It seems like if I just try it twice instead of just cranking and cranking then it starts easier. Most of the time it's not a problem.
12. Have you used the block heater, and does this effect engine starting?(only try for starting problems)
13. During hard acceleration, do you have excessive black smoke? Yes/no
No.
14. Do you have any unusual exhaust smoke issues?
No, hardly any smoke.
15. Turbo check out - pass/fail
I don't know what this means.
16. Do you have an EGR on the engine? (An F or an S engine code 8th VIN digit)
I'm pretty sure it does.
17. Indicate if you know if it’s a 1500, 2500, 2500HD, 3500, 3500HD.
1500
18. Indicate fuel that you are using: Bio-diesel, #2 Diesel, #1Diesel, SVO/WVO, other
What? I just got diesel from the pump.
18a. If running a VO (Veggie Oil fuel) setup, indicate details of your conversion (homemade, or packaged system)
19. Are you using any fuel additives? If so, please list.
20. Please indicate geographic region you are in: (example: Texas or Canada)
Texas
21. Do you have any service history available that might pertain to the problem you are having?
22. Please indicate any modifications to the vehicle that might help us diagnose better.
23. Upon unscrewing the fuel cap, do you have a large vacuum formed in the tank?
yes/no
There was some vacuum in there last time I fueled up.
24. Location of PMD/FSD? On the pump/remoted over intake/remoted out of engine bay (please specify placement specifically)
I have done extensive car work but never on a diesel. I don't really know what these are yet much less where they are.
24a. If remote mounted, describe wiring harness (homemade or purchased from a vendor?)
24b. Indicate the location and condition of the FSD/IP grounding wire.
Same thing here as PMD/FSD question.
25. Are ALL glow plugs in proper working order as per this thread?
So there you go. Everything seems pretty normal to me, but I don't know what normal is. It runs good but the SES light comes on and off while I'm driving. Some crack head put tape over the panel so they wouldn't have to look at the light, I need to find something to get the glue from the tape off of the plastic without hurting the plastic. Anyway, I reset the light by pressing the fuel and brake pedal at the same time while in diagnostic mode but it came on within a couple minutes of starting the engine.

33 EGR code, maybe the person before you unhooked the EGR vacuum lines. You need to have a vacuum line from one of the solenoids on the drivers side valve cover to the EGR/BARO sensor on the drivers side firewall.
34 is a stepper motor circuit fault that means there is a 5 degree difference between measured and desired injection timing for more than 20 seconds. You could have a stepper motor not locked correctly, or a bad one, can be replaced without removing IP. It could also be that the guy before you tried advancing it so much that the IP is turned too far and the stepper cannot keep it on the PCM's desired schedule.

Now we're talking. I'll start looking that stuff up and check it out next time I can (probably this weekend). Thanks 94.
Okay, I searched around and It will be easy for me to check egr system for vacuum leak but I have no idea what the stepper motor looks like. Can you describe it and tell me where it is under my hood so I can check it? Do I need to time my engine? I'd have to learn how to do that too since apparently it's not like anything I've done.
