: 1rst spray experirence=WTF!?!?
ratlover 04-18-2005, 10:59 AM Got all my N2O stuff installed this weekend. After I got all the wiring in I taped some LED lights to the windshield wipers and drove around a bit watiching my stages kick on and off before I hooked up the noids. Eveything worked well so the game plan was to go out with just my first stage hooked up and juice going down the highway in 5th gear to make sure all was well and then do the same with both stages and then start jetting up and toying with it till I got my smoke almost cleaned up and then do final tweaking at the track. I enter the highway and get her into 5th and start rolling on it and wood it and hit the 1rst stage at about 70. She pulls for a second and falls flat on her face, and I mean lays over BAD:eek: :wtf: :uhoh2: so I roll outa the throttle and am still scratching my head as I exit the highway. Did my dumb ass forget to install a pill in that stage or what??? I turn onto the main road and my truck dies:eek: into nutral, it starts but dies:eek: :eek: Off to the side of the road I go and on go the whirly lights:damnit1: :wtf: just happened??? So I pop the hood to make sure I didnt pop a boost hose or something like that and am still scratching my head. As I am walking around my truck I notice I cant hear my liftpumps running.....the switch is on.....hmmmm......and then it all makes sense. When running the power for the noids I tied into the wire for my radio. I figured it would be a great place since its tied into the batt, is plenty thick and I dont have to hack on my factory wiring. I also figure I wont be talking on the company radio while spraying so I wont have to worry about amp draw. I also hooked up my switch to turn on my lift pump relays into this wire since its constant hot. Well my dumb ass forgot that it was fused under the hood for 20 amps for the radio, zaped that fues and killed the signal wire to my liftpumps. Had to rob a fues from my N2O so I could get back to the shop.

Part of my test course is a solid 3/4 mile entrance to get onto the interstate on ramps. its 2 lanes in each direction with a big grass medain, good concrete, you get into or off of it via the road it tees into or on or off the interstate, no side roads. It would be the perfect place to line them up if it wasnt across the street from the county jail:badidea:
So I am still doing a bit of tweaking and bumping up jets a bit I get onto my little test strip, let her get into 3rd gear all locked and run the r's up to were she wont down shift and I nail it. Things are moving nicely and I see a car that was heading at me go flying through the ditch turning around:Whoa:, his car is white and has markings of a state boy on him. At this point I am doing a bit over a buck(limit 55) and I am on the breaks Censored Censored Censored I slow down to a sane limit and instead of diping in behind me he takes the exit going north(I go south) :bounce: . When the hell was I ever lucky:confused: I musta been saving all my luck for times like this:exactly:

I have managed to get him to go after someone else, twice now. (I clearly was the violator, but he picked them out.)

ratlover 04-18-2005, 04:48 PM I think I'm mostly dissapointed with the spray since everything around me dosnt turn into a blur and I dont shoot flames outa my exhaust when it hits like what would happen if I had a civic. Maybe I need some NAAAAAAWS stickers to get the most outa it?
In all serious though on my truck its not a kick in the pants like on a gasser. Dont get me wrong you can tell its there and when it comes on but it just dosnt seem to "hit" like a gasser. Maybe I'm nuts? And I seriously know my truck is rolling but I'm still no were near satisfied. I love driving the Xtreme and it gets up there quick but its still lacking. Just a smooth pulling.......

I know my jetting is very conservative. I figured I would just run her till she cleaned up the smoke pretty good and then do my final tweaking at the track. Although I may jet up agin just a hair. It still hazes pretty deccent.
Greg.....you are running 2 stages for a total of 120 or you are running 2 120's?:eek: If your running 2 120's then you are likely running into another restriction somewere else.
Dont think the trans is slipping. Still clicks em off nice and crisp:ro) Well I havent done anything other than a 2nd gear roll on. I tried 1 from a stop but the traction sucked so I went back to all rolls, need a good place to go from a stop close to me, dont want to be changing jets on the side of the road. Still need lotsa tweaking
Super Diesel 04-19-2005, 01:48 PM You can run W/M with pane just fine (watch your mix levels though). Greg, sounds like there is a massive restriction in your N2O set up. I get just over 250+hp (300+hp with the pane) with just one jet that size. It starts to burn things down at that level though.

2 stages, .120 jet in each;) It's a long story, but at a dyno event last year I didn't have and couldn't find some larger jets, so I grabbed the smallest drill bit I could find and drilled the .040 and .030 ones I had out):h Could only get 2 passes at the track with a 10 lb. bottle and then it's empty:eek: I found out over the winter though that my solinoids are only .070 so I've changed the jets to .070's. Haven't run at the track yet, but I will be on the dyno at the end of the month so we will see if it changes.

Spray gets expensive when you start squirting a ton of the stuff. 20$+ a pass adds up quick:eek: .

I have a TS Powerfool 2 that I picked up pretty cheap early last year. I do have a High flow valve on the bottle also. I'm going to pick up a 20 lb. bottle this year so I can at least get 3 or 4 passes out of it:help: :D

I have 2 15#ers......we shall see if I screwed myself though. 15# er may be too small to get more than 1 consistent pass outa. We shall see. I suppose i could always jet down when i run the brackets:sleep: I'm still learning tons. I have a heater and my bottle is hiding in a black tool box, I shouldnt have a problem with getting heat in the bottle to keep my pressure consistent. I know that even with the 42 and the 30 I run through a good amount of spray, duno were I will stop with jeting. Havent made a full 1/4 mile pass though to see my usage. Lots of stuff not anywere near figured out, nothing close to being dialed in. Damn I need some track time. I need to get off my ass and get my loops made and get my shocks installed and some other odds and ends.
