What is the difference in mpg on otherwise similar trucks? Thanks.

my 2500 crew cab 2wd got 17-18 at 75mph when totally stock. Cant say about duallies though??? I know they have 4.10 gears as to my 3.73's. Should be in the 14-15 range though.

Lot of variables, but around 2-3mpg due to increased rolling mass, curb and so on. This gets worse with higher speeds due to aerodynamic drag from the flared fender.

Dually Dmax has 3.73s stock not 4.10s.
I get a little over 18 on highway with mods.stock was 15-16mpg with the pre ULS diesel .

I am getting 17.4 with the things done in my signature, havent had it on any long highway runs and probably wont unless the trailers are hooked up, it got ~13 or 14 towing depending on the hills. No mods were done yet while towing .

 Yup.....2-3 sounds a little high to me. But then again every truck is different. Stock was 15.5mpg city, highway, backroads, uphill, downhill....basically as long as it was under 80mph the only time I got anything other than ~15.5 was towing. With mods, warm temps, and good weather, 18.5-19.5mpg @ 65mph, but drops to 17mpg @ 75mph.

on edit: Got back from St. Louis last night, filled up and checked mpg this morning. The same trip that I get ~19mpg in the summer. Still on winter blend and temps were ~60F. 15.1mpg @ 70mph. WINTER BLEND SUCKS

Ultimately. . . . . who cares? Seems like a silly question to me.

If you need a dually, get one. If you don't, then don't. If fuel mileage is a MAJOR concern for you (with today's prices), then you probably don't really need one of these trucks. Dump your diesel and get a Prius or something. My two cents. :p:

Theirs not to much difference other then the extra tires and fenders sticking out.
However if your pulling a big trailer those two extra tires make a dually alot more stable towing.

not sure how you guys figure mpg. w/ stock tires the speedo is fast according to m gps. Probably on purpose to give better mpg readings. i dont really need a dually just always wanted one. i want a crew long bed and they look silly in srw to me. when i had 265's on it the speedo was dead nutz. with your guy's mods and crazy set ups, how would you really know?

My speedo is dead on vs GPS. I do have oversize tires, and it was still a little fast so I tweaked it with EFI Live. Dead on anywhere from 5-85mph. DIC "AVG MPG" reading was WAY OFF, EFI solved that problem too. I log all fillups and Miles per fillup and compare to DIC reading for Avg MPG, Fuel Used. Also compare Trip Miles vs GPS Miles on long trips, biggest error has been .8 miles over a 540 mile trip.
