: Finally got the Ranchhand installed!!
I have some pics in my sig link. I really like this thing, the line-x came out Great! I am very happy.:ro) :ro) Bumper weighed 215lbs before line-x, we didn't weight is after though. It only dropped the front end 3/16" no big deal. The fog lights took a little work to get adjusted right but they are functional. I really like the fact that tow hooks and fog lights can be retained, nice touch. Very solid bumper, me likes:D :D .........
The 315s clear ok but I may trade them for 285s. They are just too big without cutting steel (rear part of the fender). I've got 1/4"-3/8" clearance at the rear part of the fender at full lock. Suspension travel while turning quickly deletes that clearance. I would like to have mud flaps on the front and it is impossible with these tires. They would be fine most of the time until you get offroad or steep driveways faster than crawl speed. I've got green keys in but if I get 285s I will likely lower the front end a bit. Right now with the 315s my front fenders are 41.5" from the ground, rear is 42". The gooseneck lowers the rear 2" so air bags are in order.
GMC2500HD 04-17-2005, 11:48 PM Looks pretty good man.. Nice set up...
dmaxalliTech 04-17-2005, 11:50 PM Looks good, but the thought of crawling over those things when servicing them makes my knee's hurt..LOL
Yeah, I bet that line-x would leave nice marks on ones knees):h ):h
_nar_ 04-18-2005, 12:46 AM Looks good. Should make you feel a lot better when deer are on the road.

RUNNINHORN 04-18-2005, 12:23 PM how much trimming is needed to retain the 315's? Thats the bumper i have on order right now, and also am bidding on some 315 H2 takeoffs as we speak.......but ill be getting the cognito 2" leveling kit installed too, would that make a difference? Just want to be able to keep the H2/315's and the front Ranchhand.........
TheMonkey 04-18-2005, 12:24 PM your truck looks great...
i don't understand... your truck seems built for 315's. why would you have to trim the rear part of the fender? if you say it's too close, then it's too close, but i have not heard that before. also... can you explain the steep driveway prob? idongettit.

dozerboy 04-18-2005, 09:33 PM Truck looks good I think that is the first time I have seen that green will you post a few more pics.
rolloffhill 04-18-2005, 11:49 PM I see ranchhand finally got their sh!t together, I was going to get one but wanted to keep stock fogs and tow hooks. I ended up buying a frontier front end replacement instead. I sure like it so I can't complain.

Just want to be able to keep the H2/315's and the front Ranchhand.........The only trimming I did was the front portion of the inner fender liner on both sides. I just trimmed it even with the bottom of the Ranchhand, because the plastic inner liner sticks down about 1.5" below the ranchhand, looks a lot better trimmed anyway.
I also removed the left side battery and redrilled the hole where the windshield washer reservoir mounts to the battery tray. I drilled is about 3/4" toward the front of the truck. I thought the tires came pretty close to it so I elected to move it out of harms wayhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif . Worked real slick.
I am going to keep the 315s now 'cuz the tire shop wanted $280 to boothttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif Besides, I think it would look wierd with those tiny 285shttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
BTW, I highly recommend Cognito pitman/idler arm supports. Kennedy sells them, thats where I got mine. Really tightens up the steering in a good way;). I put those on the weekend before the 315s went on.
I ordered the Cognito leveling kit 2 weeks ago (backordered) I will find out when it gets here. 8.1gasser said you need to use the wheel spacers Cognito sends with the kit. I am guessing they are 1/4" thick? They may cause clearance issues. We'll see. I have my green keys adjusted on the low side now so I could go up a little if need be, but I don't want to enter the bump steer zonehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif It rides good now with just green keys, so I suspect those with "rough riders" went up higher than I did.

I mean if you have a lot of suspension compression while turning, I guess it is stiff enough that it would never compress that far. Before I put the green keys I lowered the factory torsion keys all the way down and the tires rubbed about a 3/8"-1/2" on the steel fender. I believe I am about 3" higher than that now. So maybe it wouldn't be a problem. I drove though a deep ditch at an angle to check clearance and got no rubbing at all.
Webshots apparently doesn't host pics, if someone wants to host some pics that would be greeeathttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rockon.gif
ssduramax 04-19-2005, 02:11 PM Dang that looks sharp!
How much did it set you back to get the bumper Line-Xed? I have a painted Buckstop that is getting rock chiped on the front and that line-x should fix that right up.
You'll love the LineX this summer. I don't even wash my bumper. It can be covered in skeets and driving in the next rain they just falll off. This was my first winter with it and it held up great.
$1000 for the Ranchhand and $300 to Line-x it. Money well spent IMO.
Thanks Jeli
txguppy 04-21-2005, 12:04 PM I've Line-Xed my last two Ranch Hand Grill Guards. Would'nt have it any other way. :grd:
rolloffhill 04-21-2005, 12:59 PM I saw a about an '02 chevy dually the other day with line-x on the rocker panels about 18" all the way around the truck. Gotta say it sure did not look good!!
