I've got my Fabtech kit sitting on the floor here waiting for the install. :D
Diesel Power 04-18-2005, 04:19 AM as i said it works fine and is beefier.. as i haven't had it for an extended period of miles i don't know how it will hold up. the stabilizer limits steering travel just a bit, as the arms are larger and they need to clear the frame (this is what fabtech told me). i didn't notice it but i believe some have. the new stabilizer is nice and tight with good steering feel. i would do it again.
xcman 04-18-2005, 08:31 AM been thinking about going with the fabtech kit. What all does the kit include and how much? Any supproting vendors selling them?
freyguy 04-18-2005, 08:58 AM Huge improvement over factory parts. The stock arms look terrible next to the fabtech ones. Install was pretty easy, and the truck feels alot better. John from Diesel Performance Shops here on the board stocks the kits. It did increase my steering radius which can be a pain with such a long truck. I'm getting used to it, but U turns are even harder now! I'm guessing it added about 3 ft to my radius. I went with this kit because if I were to buy factory parts, they would be $200 for the arms themselves without the steering stabilizer. Then to add the supports, it's about another $200. Then add on the stabilizer for about $80. Not sure how much the Fabtech kit is going for now, John can tell you that.
If my arms were fine, I'd go with the support kit. Since mine were shot, the fabtech kit just made sense. Also, I wish I got a pair of SD tie rod sleeves at the same time so I could have put them on while I had the centerlink out. Also, it would only be one alignment instead of 2. Just an idear.
BassinRVer 04-18-2005, 09:12 AM Anyone with pictures?
Goldneye 04-18-2005, 10:50 AM Different brand same topic.
I went with the Cognito pitman / idler arm suppeort kit, easy install and it took out the slop in the steering wheel and better responce. Bought mine from Kennedy Diesel. All in all I'm sure both kits are good over stock.
dieselfumes57 04-19-2005, 08:40 AM love mine! i put mine on and didnt put in the new stabilzer. i dont think it increased turnind for me that i have noticed

the guy that put it on didnt wanna fool with drilling a hole so he didnt and i didnt know it until i seen the extra parts in back of the truck. I figured i might pull it out and try it one day just to see if it changes anything
RUNNINHORN 04-20-2005, 01:17 PM what did the total package cost you? 2" leveling kit as well as the other stuff.......thanks
Diesel Power 04-20-2005, 01:30 PM if you don't run the stabilizer it will NOT shorten your turning radius. bad side is that they will HIT the frame.
thats the the directions say it is mandatory that you install it. the shock is what alters the travel
dieselfumes57 04-20-2005, 04:22 PM Mine works fine without the stabilizer so far. 4 months and 15k worth of it ok. As far as tomorrow, ya never know!
