: wont shift
HDBlackMax 03-19-2009, 08:49 PM I dropped the valve body and now its put back just the same, but when i go to put it into gear its gets tough. when in reverse its wants to go foward but its not like its in first gear. when the column shows neutral its acting like it in park. and it wont move any further down the column than neutral. so basically park and neutral wont move and reverse wants to go foward. any suggestions are greatly appreciatted

X2, or you might have a fluid bleed over in the valve body somewhere and it is actually applying multiple clutchs at the wrong time? Either way it is not a good thing at all.:( Was the shift valve stuck in it's bore like we talked about?
HDBlackMax 03-19-2009, 09:01 PM how many ways can the valve pin go in
chevydieselsmoker 03-19-2009, 09:11 PM it will usually find its own "home" in the slot but the second time i pulled my VB out it was doing what you are describing i pulled it again put it up and all was fine. can you move the shift lever on the tranny by hand?
HDBlackMax 03-19-2009, 09:13 PM no its pretty tight when i tried to move it by hand
rgullett83 03-19-2009, 09:32 PM I would pull the pan and take a look at the manual valve, sounds like something is unhappy there.
HDBlackMax 03-19-2009, 09:55 PM yeah im guessing something is wrong there, i just tried putting it in gear and now it wouldnt move at all so i shut it off in neutral position and started it again and it popped in gear in that position. and now nothing in reverse. any suggestions on the manual valve?
chevydieselsmoker 03-19-2009, 10:13 PM make sure the valve moves freely. and i think with the flat spots in the pin it will only go in one way. so the pin may not be in the "zig zag" (cant remember whats its called) slot correctly

Mike - you're wrong!! The "G Spot" is your friend!:pimp:
HDBlackMax - check to see if the pin is bent, I've seen this a couple of times before, it could throw the manual valve off just enough to do what you've experiencing.

But there is a fine line between finding it and just flailing about aimlessly.:D
HDBlackMax 03-26-2009, 06:10 PM the small pin on the manual shift valve fell out. i got it reinstalled and it worked just fine. truck still wont shift out of 3rd gear. i guess there must be something wrong internally
rgullett83 03-26-2009, 06:48 PM have you cleared codes yet?
