So the plastic line that runs to the wastegate broke on my truck so its go no suction from the vacuum pump. So im going to bye heath turbo master controler.
My question is.... Is it safe to drive the truck around with that broken, cause i get to boost now? Till i get the new part in.

Thanks

you can replace/repair that line with $4 worth of washer fluid hose. much cheaper than a TM and you retain computer controlled boost...driving with no boost is not safe, your EGTS will skyrocket due to unburnt fuel running through the exhaust.

If you really want to go with the TM, you can wire the waste gate shut temporarily, but I wouldn't sugggest doing that unless you have a boost gauge installed.

I just got a lot of good help in this area. Take a look at this thread and see what the guys told me.

In a nut shell, if you don't have vacuum to the WG control you have zero boost, default failure mode is Waste Gate open. If you clamp it shut 100% of the time, it would be at high risk for overboost. You can make your own homemade Tm but it takes some tinkering, which I like to do anyway. :)

I used duct tape to repair a broke plastic line. Been that way for quite some time.

I got gauges. I just need the truck for short distance driving for now. I'll try repairing the line for now.

Driving the truck with the failed line will result in no boost. This may cause overfueling which will be visible by heavy black smoke and very elevated EGTs. It's real easy to overtemp the motor by doing this. Drive it gently and you should be fine.

Like others have said, this is a real easy fix with some short length of tubing.

So I'm not imaging it, my truck really is running cooler and taking longer to warm up after I got the turbo working again!!! On the way to work I was thinking, "where's the heat? Usually have warm air by now."
Must be true, run a little cooler with turbo just cruising around... and its not all that cold out, its only in the 20*F range in the mornings now.

as per "Bill Heath" you can drive with the WG wired shut as long as you are driving "Normal" for temporary untill you can fix the problem.

PCM will catch the over boost and defuel you (Limp Mode).......but this shouldn't happen if your driving "Normal".....no hot rodding.......he also said better than driving with no turbo because of EGT's

This is what was told to me.....only a suggestion!

Or you can get vacuum tubing, the same stuff used in the gasser emission system (EGR-VSV). Bring your current one there for the size.

3 miles? ride your bike you'd be at work before the glow plug light goes out:p:

Ok, so i put the new heath turbo master controler in and it works great, got better power and get to highway speed quicker.
I've noticed though when taking off at a dead stop it will take off slow and then kinda of throw you back in your seat like the turbo is lagging, and will have black smoke coming out. Is this normal?

1 to 2 second turbo lag is what I get when I put on my TurboMaster. IIRC, You will experience a little bit more turbo lag with the TurboMaster then the stock vacuum system.

Why do you experience the 1 to 2 second lag? Is it because you are using the intake to move your wastegate? Ive seen chipped powerstrokes do this too. Is this the only down side to a TM?
