(2005 GMC Dually with Ranch hand front bumper) I am about ready to replace all the front, pitman arm, idler arm, blue idler arm support with weld in brace, pitman/idler supports, upper control arms, alignment and then tires. I have already turned the keys and run 235's. I am looking at the 255 85 16's with the spacers.

Should I get the 1 1/2 spacers or the 2" spacers?

If 1 1/2" why can't we change the stud instead of cutting?

Can I run a bigger tire than the 255 85 16?

Okay I decided to run the 255/85/16 and not the 285's. So which spacer do you guys think will work best. You know just thinking whats 1/2". I will just order the 2" spacers. I would rather have plenty of room than to be close.

So here it is: ordered the cognito with braces, and HD idler support. Got the moog idler, moog pitman, moog outer tie rod, moog inner tie rod, spacers, 255/85/16's.

What I missed: Wheel bearings, new brakes. I may have to do the wheel bearings too if there shot.

It all depends on the tire you use, I think the 1 1/2" will probably be fine. If you get them through Fred he will take the 2" back if they are too wide. I was looking at some 19.5's for my truck, but I will probably stick with the 16's and go with the 255 Toyo M55, With the 1 1/2 spacer I should have about an 1" of space

I did the 1.5" spacers with 285/70/17 and they work perfect. I did have to cut off the ends of the factory studs but did NOT get into any of the threads.... I just used a 4" cut off wheel and they grinded off very very easy. Im so glad I didnt do the 2" spacer b/c these tires stick out plenty look in my garage for pics.

I'm not certain but when you order the HD tierods is that all four pieces(from Nor cal).2 inners and 2 outers. If so I will take back the moog and get the HD ones. I was thinking it was just the outers. I wondered why anyone would just buy the HD outers and not the inners!

The stock inners will not fit in the HD outers.

I use to have the cooper tires on my dually and all I can say is make sure you rotate them often. I ended up haveing to go to a 235 becasue discount tire told me they won't work on dually's with spacers.

I run 1.5" Freds spacers with 255's and love it. The tires are right in line with the fenders and have about 1.25" of space between them with the BFG MT's.

I will have to snap some pictures and post them up if you want.

Okay got every thing on. Got it aligned. Put the new tires on today. 255/85/16 with the 1 1/2" spacer from Fred. Really only needed a 1" but these are fine. I will post pictures later when I get home. I Still need to paint the rims black and will put the center caps back on. I will leave the trim rings off. The alignment was $43 at the Chevrolet dealer. Took 2 1/2 hours since I had all new componets installed. Here are the specs with the cognito uca's.

L R
.3 camber .3

7. caster .7

0.0 toe 0.0

Like I said I got the alignment Wed and the tires put on today (thursday). It has a drift to the right just a little. Enough to get on your nerves. I will be going back tomorrow am to the dealer. They sadi bring it back after the tires or if I had any issues. They were very nice. (Unusual)

Sounds all to familiar. I had mine aligned last week and put on Toyo M55's in 255/85/16. Still has a little tug to the right and the steering wheel is off just enough to be annoying.
