Truck has developed a horrible ticking noise under acceleration. Definately coming from either rear end or transmission/t-case.
Not present while coasting or de-accel. When loaded at a stand still (brake applied, gas applied) noise is not present.

Not an exhaust leak or an noise coming from the engine.

Any ideas?

Going to drop the oil on the T-case tomorow...

Can pump rub cause a horrible metalic ticking? Doesn't appear to have worn thru. No oil on underside of T-Case.

Any other ideas what to check?

T-case fluid came out spotless. So clean in fact I am angry about pouring it out. Next up is pulling off the diff cover.

Still hunting for ideas?

Haha, U Joints are definately next on the list. I had a good look at em, there is no slop that I can see or feel.

Pulled the diff cover off, didnt see anything alarming. A bit more metal stuck to the drain plug then I would like.

Going to relpace the U-Joints today (probably time to do them anyway)... Hopefully the problem goes away.

Its been almost a week now with this noise, but it doesnt seem to be getting worse. Wish something would just implode already so I can rest easy knowing what I have to fix.

sorry to bring this back but did you ever figure out what it was? I have a similar noise coming from the rear end somewhere under acceleration and then hard braking. No sound at idle any ideas?
