Is the engine retarder a hand operated ? If so I think that they are a Cat design?

The only retarder I have experience with is the transmission style through the ALLISON, and it works GREAT! It does heat the tranny fluid up in a quick hurry, but will slow you down just as quick.

If your truck does not have the vgt turbo you can use the Pacbrake PRXB exhaust brake If you can get me that infomation I can let you know what is available for your truck be it an exhaust brake or a driveline retarder

yea, i dont know what turbo it has, when i go next, ill get the vin # and search,,
the allison in ours does not downshift automatically like the pick up allisions do in tow haul mode. that why were lookin for a engine brake, we could push the button to make it downshift, but then we got to remember to upshift it. that just to much to do while going to a fire call.
