: Then all the laughing stopped
tranytom 04-16-2005, 09:59 PM Went to the drag strip with Nick (Duramaxdiesel) today. The crowd was laughing as he pulls up to the lights. Then all the laughing stopped as nick killed the mustang in the other lane with a 13.7 & reaction time of .678. This was the first time in Nick’s life at a drag strip with lights. He had no idea about staging.

Oh He went on to post a 13.2 to end he’s day. The time official came down for the tower to give him his time slip & say that he is now thinking of buying a diesel. It’s the fastest diesel truck he has ever seen.

Before we left the track people were saying that truck is sick.:cool2:

Will get Nick (Duramaxdiesel) to post pic’s.:nopics:

See thead Look At What The New Quad Did To My Truck!!
9W3-HD 04-16-2005, 10:03 PM Thats pretty amazing considering he's running with a lift kit.
tophog 04-16-2005, 10:08 PM That's a perfect day and the reactions/responses we like to see. Nothing like taking the smile off someone's face :ro)
Got Juice? 04-16-2005, 10:46 PM Congrats Bubbles!
Sounds like it was a great day to run!
WilliamBos 04-16-2005, 10:56 PM Yeah,
Congrats Bubbs!! with those times you gotta be the " KING OF SUNNIVALE " Now eh?? I see you took the shopping carts out, or did they fall out from the heavy launches??
Take care
Will
Jim659 04-17-2005, 12:12 AM How many runs a day are you guys gettig when you test and tune?
McRat 04-17-2005, 12:24 AM :ro)
I will say that around here, respect is growing at the local tracks for the diesels. Last Friday I spent at least an hour answering questions from spectators and other racers about diesel performance. They were stunned seeing a big pickup running ET's like sportscars do.
dmaxalliTech 04-17-2005, 03:37 PM Jim, track is only 45 min away to test that new hair dryer......
duramaxdiesel 04-17-2005, 06:15 PM Aww Tom you beat me to the surprise:cool: Guys it was a great Test and Tune day:ro) I made 14 runs on the track and like Tom said this was my first time with a Christmas tree. Boy does it take some getting used to. I wonder if I had had the lift pump along with my Cools Duals and AFE installed that I would've made it into the high 12's? Truck bucks like a bull at higher RPM's. I'm guessing that it has to do with not having a lift pump. The big day is the 27th with the SRT-10. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Naw, no shopping carts to the track. I got Ricky to keep an eye on them. Hmmm, wonder if I can go faster with cart wheels:D
Mackin 04-17-2005, 06:56 PM Aww Tom you beat me to the surprise:cool: Guys it was a great Test and Tune day:ro) I made 14 runs on the track and like Tom said this was my first time with a Christmas tree. The new Quad alone bucked up top? I doubt bursting will be solved with a lift pump, hasn't yet.Atleast on my truck
duramaxdiesel 04-17-2005, 07:07 PM Yup she bucked pretty bad. That was with the Quad stacked with my Juice on 5x5. Bucking started at around 98MPH.
Mackin 04-17-2005, 07:13 PM Yup she bucked pretty bad. That was with the Quad stacked with my Juice on 5x5. Bucking started at around 98MPH.
I thought that was why there was two 215 tunes ,one for stacking one smoke machine setting? You can try a pump hope it works for ya it can be viscous on the drivetrain.
duramaxdiesel 04-17-2005, 07:29 PM From what I see on the back of the controller I can choose level 9=215 or Level 10=215w/N20. I tried level 10 for the heck of it and it smoked real bad. I guess it injects more fuel and expects the N20 to clean it up a little. Also what do you think will be hard on the truck?

Was it the speed limiter you were bouncing off of.............
TheMonkey 04-17-2005, 08:02 PM Then all the laughing stopped as nick killed the mustangCharlie: So Lieutenant, where exactly were you?
Nick: Well we...
Tom: Thank you.
Nick: ...started up on the Christmas tree when we pulled through the clouds and then I moved in next to him.
Charlie: Well if you were directly next him, how could you see the lights?
Nick: Because I was lifted 6".
Iceman: (while coughing): Bull$hit.
Tom: No, he was man. It was a really great move. He was lifted.
Charlie: You were in a '01 6" lift running 285's dragstrip race with a Mustang?
Nick: Yes maam.
Charlie: At what range?
Nick: About two meters.
Tom: Well it was actually about one and a half, but the distance grew pretty quick... I've got a great polaroid of it, he's right there.... and then he was gone.
Nick: It was a nice picture...
Charlie: Ah, Lieutenant. What were you doing there?
Tom: Teaching.
Nick: Teaching. Keeping up race relations. You know. Giving everyone a look at my rear bumper. The real big one..

Diesel Dragon 04-17-2005, 08:05 PM :funnypost
duramaxdiesel 04-17-2005, 08:22 PM Man the stuff you guys come up with:muahaha:  You know, I'm on my second keyboard 'cause of all the coffee that gets spewed outta my nose with all the one liners from you guys:lol:
Heartbeat: I thought that was the case too at first. But it also happens sometimes while I nail it to about 130Kph. I only have about 1500 Klicks on my fuel filter but I'll change it out again and see if that helps any. thanks.
Diesel Dragon 04-17-2005, 08:29 PM duramaxdiesel,
I don't know about the quad, but when I installed my lift pump it made a BIG diffrence in the performance of the VA program I had.
:grd:
dpower 04-17-2005, 09:09 PM Awesome.....the smiles being wiped off the faces of the cacklers must of been priceless......:ro) :ro) :ro)
duramaxdiesel 04-17-2005, 10:12 PM DD I really hope the pump helps. I'm optimistic that it will.
Oh yeah there was laughing at the beginning when I staged but when I ran a 13.5 jaws dropped:cool:
tranytom 04-17-2005, 10:16 PM :ro) It rocked:ro) :ro) :ro)
Nick still has the 01 ECU with the 100MPH speed limiter.
He was on his winter slicks from the burn out show he posted.
:blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah:
Lots of room to improve.;)
Tom
duramaximizer 04-18-2005, 12:03 AM lol that is great. i can see the laughing now....isn't it great to be respected in a truck.
gmccall 04-18-2005, 08:54 AM Sounds like a blast at the track.
Said it at least once before.
I run with Quad and Edge/attitude. Best times are with Quad on 215 and Attitude on 2. If I try attitude on 3 or above the "bucking fuel starvation begins at the end of an 1/8th mile.
sgtdmax66 04-18-2005, 09:00 AM That's unbelievable! I would have loved to see that. Our track here in Joliet, IL. (Route 66) has not seen diesel power like that. Maybe I should be the 1st.
Bellrule 04-18-2005, 09:46 AM Just a thought from a dumb farm boy, but if you guys are running out of fuel have you thought of bypassing the stock fuel filter and using only a higher volume one such as as Kennedy's mega setup?
hdmax 04-18-2005, 10:01 AM It seems that the 2001`s have the most problems with fueling issues and speed limiter issues. And the Quad isn't the only programmer it seems!
coalbucket1 04-18-2005, 01:09 PM duramaxdiesel,
I don't know about the quad, but when I installed my lift pump it made a BIG diffrence in the performance of the VA program I had.
:grd:
It bursts for me as well at about 2800 in a long pull, but fuel filter has 10k on it had not had time to change. It does stack well.:ro)
muddinmoon 04-18-2005, 04:24 PM Are you running 13's on a stock tranny!??
noreaster 04-18-2005, 07:51 PM check his signature
tranytom 04-18-2005, 07:57 PM No It's A DTT Stage 1
muddinmoon 04-18-2005, 09:56 PM Thanks :p:
PEANUTGRWR 04-18-2005, 10:41 PM NICE STORY. :ro) IM RUNNING THE SAME STACK AS YOU ARE AND MY TRUCK WOULD BURST ONLY ON LEVEL 5 STACKED WITH THE NOS TUNE FROM THE QUAD. I INSTALLED SUPER DIESEL'S LIFT PUMP AND IT CURED THE BURSTING. I UNDERSTAND THAT IT DONT CURE IT ON ALL TRUCKS BUT MAYBE YOULL BE AS LUCKY :)
