:help2: Can't decide which way to go with exhaust system. Want to install 4" pipe and flowmaster muffler. I would also like to delete the cat but I understand I would probably have the check engine light go on and off. Am I wasting my time and money by replacing the stock exhaust and leaving the cat installed??? I would really like to delete the cat but don't want to put up with any warning lights.

I went with the Banks system, a cat back.

I don't see any problems with keeping the cat and the 3" downpipe.

Only complaint about the Banks is that between 1400-1600 rpm I get a drone.

Not real bad but is noticable.

Just installed Banks cat-back system 2 months ago. Awesome :ro) !!! They installed the 4" w/5" tip. I too had concerns about how loud it would get. I even asked if they could put a 4" tip, instead of the 5", to help keep the noise down. They informed me it would not work with their engineered cat-back system.

After Banks installation, the aftermarket exhaust is not noticeable at all in the cab and on the outside you get this great deep diesel sound that is on the tame side.

When I had gassers in the past, I swore by FlowMaster. Every vehicle I owned had one on it. So don't think FlowMaster is not a great option.

My opinion, FlowMaster is the way to go on gassers, Banks for sure on a diesel.

Like I said, Banks - AWESOME!!!:cool2:

Ringer68,

Odds are you might not like the sound of a flowmaster on a diesel, lots of folks have tried it and more often than not the result is they change the muffler at a later date. Check out our MBRP systems, they are available in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless as well as in singles and duals. In fact the site has a installation review on a set of them in the "reviews" section of the this board. Go check it out you'll probably liek what you see.

Give us a call if you have any questions etc.

I installed a flowmaster cat back...ran great very quite..But what a difference the cat being removed made quicker Accellerations, smoother, and EGT are cooler..Also made the turbo whinnig noise more noticable. But I did set the light on at 44 miles...just recieved my finger and EGR blocker plate..
The Flowmaster I got doesnt sound anytyhing like a flowmaster..it was a deisel kit....

Ringer68,
Keep your stock exhaust setup in case Maryland starts emmissions testing diesels. I registered mine with "Farm Tags" so if they do start testing diesels, mine is exempt!
