I had my vehicle serviced oil lube and filter,air-cleaner and fuel filter. I was hosed at the dealer where I bought 3 vehicles. Lets just say im going to seek other options when it comes to this type of service. Total charged $285.00.
GM is now sticking it to its loyal customers who use GM for service.

Heck all that work and it was only $285. That ain't that bad for a stealership and is why a lot of us do our own.

What dealer did you take it to?
Filter about $38 not installed
Air Filter around $32. not installed
Oil Filter around $8-$10 not installed
No idea what they charge to grease the truck
Each item installed has a shop rate to charge, I've seen people pay a lot just to have the fuel filter installed. I bet when you add it all up they are close to what other dealers charge. That is why you see a lot of guys here doing this themselves.

Sounds typical to me - Ask before you bend over - then go buy good tools and do the job yourself.
I had a year free LOF's - First time under myself I could see the stealership missed several of the 11 zerks every time. :(
Now I have a good 1" strap wrench and WIF Wrench - enjoy the great satisfaction in a job well done - by me!

my stealer charged over 130 for an oil change, for all those services I would pay 400 dollars or so. I probably save half of that by doing it myself. Dealers in my area suck huevos so i do it myself.

When I take my truck to the dealer, I usually wait until I have a few things to get done. I bring my own oil & filter they change it for about 10 bucks.
I took my '01 Z06 vette in for service oil and lube, AND I didn't bring my own oil, $65 for the oil change...not doin' that again.
The dealer here in Evansville charges 78 bucks an hour for labor. Now that the weather is getting better, I'll do a lot myself.

Kid's Mazda came with free first LOF like most new cars - He asked to upgrade to synethetic oil and pay the difference....... $60 for 4.5 qrts of "synthetic" $13.33 a qrt price difference from dino oil stealership rates ! And you don't like $6.06 a qrt for diesel truck oil? ;)
Next time we will skip the "free' oil change.........

the only time i ever took my truck to the dealership was when i had a recall or warranty related issue. other than that i do all my own service. if i run into something that is a little beyond my skill level i have an excellent diesel shop i take it too.
