I am looking at a 2003 5500 with approx 375k on it. owner says it has injectors 8k ago and 10k ago transmission was redone. this is a work truck and would be used as one still, hauling a trailer on back and towing one behind. My question is, assuming regular maint. has been done, is this an ok deal at $9000.00. I have read if i need new injectors, i have seen 1800-5000, depending on how you go. i am not against having to rebuild or replace motor in 100k or so if needed. Just wanting some opinions before I buy. thanks.

does he have all maint records for usual stuff. By trans being redone - was it rebuilt to stock, rebuilt with upgraded parts or a complete replacement, stock or upgraded aftermarket. brakes, oil, anitfreeze, fornt/rear gears, front end suspension work. how does the interior look for age first and then for mileage, obviously the drivers seat will have the most wear. How is the body and paint, again for age first and then for mileage. Now look at the frame, same things how does it look for age first and then mileage. Take a good long hard look here at all the mounts pearches and welds/rivets. any heavy rust or signs of stress or even crakcs will be very bad in the near future. How are the tires? they gonna need to be replaced in 5k or 50k miles. 19.5" tires aint cheap.

Did a littlelooking around and most trucks found for that year were in the 95-160k mile range and going for $19-37k depending on what they were ( tow truck, crew cab, trctor only, ect. )

So $9k might not be too bad for the mileage
