Hi guys....new member of the forum here...so far this is a GREAT website, I have learned loads so far. :ro) My truck is an 04 DM/Ally, Edge OJ module, Banks Monster, and AFE filter. Love the truck! I was at first a bit disappointed that 2 mos after I bought my LB7, they came out with the LLY. Now, with the EGR and Cat convertor on the new motor, I'm kinda glad I have mine. Just wondering your opinions on comparisons on both motors, the "overall" picture. And, did they get these injector problems worked out on the later LB7's? I wonder if I'll have that issue on mine down the road. Would be appreciative on your feedback on this subject, especially those who own or have owned both.

I think that both motors have their strong points. I think they will both be great motors in the long run. I know that the LLY will be easier if needed to have the injectors worked on but still both good motors and longevity will not be an issue..

between the two id rather have the lb7 because it feels like it has more power than the lly it feels like it has more snap when accelerating.

All my LB7's got better mpg than my LLY's. Other than that pretty close.

Its the same motor. They made some changes though.
The lly has better access to the injectors for future changes that may be needed.
The lly has eliminated the wastgate with a variable vane turbo.
The lly has added more pollution cr*p . The EGR valve.
There are some other minor changes that don't amount to much more . They are both very good motors . You can now see the basic motor is the same .

Hey guys! I agree with SCOTTD, this is an awesome website. I've been lurking for a while reading all of the posts, but this is my first response.

I can't speak for the LLY, but my '02 LB7 has 110,000 miles on it and it's still running strong. I've had the Edge Juice on it for the past 80,000 miles and haven't had any problems out of it. IMO, you'd be hard pressed to find a better motor.

I appreciate the posts! I think I'm feeling better about having that LB7! Really wouldn't care to have all the worthless emissions crap to deal with. I see everyone is disabling that stuff anyway. Seems interesting that some think the LB7 pulls harder, because the LLY is rated for more torque. Are the injector problems ironed out on the last version of the LB7? Hope I can be a lucky one that sidesteps that problem, because these look like they'd be a beeotch to change out. That is one feature I like much better on the LLY. (the easier access) Keep the responses coming....:grd: Very knowledgable crowd here!
