Hey all,

I've got a 95 Chevy 6.5 V8 NOT TURBO with a mechanical IP. It's the Stanadyne DB2, the only one this truck can take. it died this morning after going less than 100 miles on a new IP. I am so tired of this happening and the only thing I can think of is that it could be the PMD. But, from what I've ben told, this pump doesn't have a PMD or FSD. Anyone have this problem? I swear this bus is such a P.I.A. I'm going to ghost ride the P.O.S. off of a cliff!!

HELP!!!!!! I'VE GOT TO GET MY BAND ON THE ROAD FIRST THING MONDAY FOR SXSW!!!

A better discription of "went" would be helpful. Also filling out your signature so we know what truck you have. Is your lift pump functioning properly? Where are you buying the injection pumps from? Warrenty? Have you ruled out the problem as being electrical?[power to shut-off solonoid] If you fill out the checklist and post it here it will help us help you. At this point with the info you provided we can only guess.

What makes you think the injection pump is bad ?

100 miles from a rebuilt?. Simple, the rebuilder or the installer. Warnings are out there with instructions to keep accumulated engine debris/dirt out injector lines , IP & injectors during the install. External power washing is reccommended.

DB2 is mechanical, so no PMD.
Why do you think IP is shot ? Do you get fuel at the IP ?

Sorry all...I'm just freaking out a bit since I have to get my band on the road. Just filled out my signature and will add more too.

Basically, the injection pumps keep dying...ON REGULAR DIESEL!!! They're not rebuilds, they're new. I was planning to run the bus on filtered and dewatered WVO but I haven't gotten much of a chance. I don't think it's electrical, as there is no PMD or FSD on this pump. the lift pump is functioning fine as far as I can tell. I brought it to a mechanic on Long Island so that he could hook up the components to run it on WVO. He took it to get tires put on this morning and it just stalled and wouldn't start. He could only get the bus to start by pouring fuel directly into the engine. I think he cracked the injectors and the same thing that happened last time the pump went was happening this time. Then he took the pump out to see if that was the problem and he wasn't getting any resistance from it. He said it sounded like something was clicking inside of it.

I wish I could swap the pump for an electric, but it's not an option in the nightmare of an engine. Could it be the compression? Anyone had an issue with multiple pumps dying immediately? I'm at a loss.
