Just raised it to check the intake i just installed to make sure all was well, and nothing lit up. Did GM do away with the underhood light??

It would help if we knew what year truck you have.:) I think the light was deleted in the 2003 model year.:(

I am almost certain that the light was deleted on the 2003 and later vehicles. My wifes 03 Suburban does not have one nor does my 05 D/Max.

RUNNIN....I seem to be following you around. Eric has those, too, for cheap. See my sig. Or you could go to the boneyard and find one off an earlier M.Y. truck.

They were deleted in 03.

Just another way for GM to cut corners, like no tinted glass in windshield , no convex mirror on extendable camper mirrors etc. etc.:rant:

The underhood light was eliminated, the overhead consul which held a bunch of stuff was cut down in size, the pull out ash tray (also good for storage and hanging a trash bag) was eliminated and the consul between the seats that had the under the lid storage was also done away with. But, we got the DIC--Wow. My old '95 S-10 had lighted mirror on the visors. Not an important item but not even available on the LT's if you wanted them. Add a bell, delete a whistle. Guess my acceptance of it all was that I still bought the newer model so can't complain too much.

Definately a lot of bells and whistles on them. Some of the bells I can live without. There are a few additional whistles I wish were available. I think any thing that GM deleted should still be available, even if you do have to pay an extra 10 bucks for the option. $49,000 truck and can't get a tinted windshield?????? Go Figure!!!

My wifes 2004 Buick Regal did not have the light under the hood. Seems to be a GM thing!!

Its not a GM thing. Ford no longer has the underhood light, glove box light, rear crew cab lights, tinted windsheild, etc.
