Mine is exposed too.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/confuzeld.gif I run them on my sand car and it was available for the DMAX, so I figured what the heck! It seems to help keep the big stuff off and I can still get my filter to be yellow when I wash it. I also seem to end up washing it every 10k just for grins.

I was told that you don't need one in you are running the Pro 7 filter.

I put one on mine just to keep the bugs and bigger crap out. It doesn't impede the performance and does wonders to keep the filter cleaner. Heck...I have to remove the cover to get the fine dust off of it, so it's doing it's own filtration too.

I got mine at http://www.kennedydiesel.com. You can select your color also, Blue or Gold.

if you don't care what color it is, you can take a pair of your wifes old stockings and stretch it over the filter and it'll do very similar. Not quite as purdy, but functional.:D

How do I know I'm going to get burned for this?.......

Pantyhose is an old desert racer trick. It keeps large debris from clogging a oil-type filter.

Cant find it on Kennedydiesel's site, how much are they? Yes RUNNINHORN, as in pantyhose! I'm serious, it works. Maybe not AS good as the pre-filter, but if all you're keeping out of the filter is bugs and leaves, I would almost think the pantyhose MIGHT make less restriction than the pre-filter. Of course it doesn't look as purdy. But hey, you save yourself about $25.

Last time I was along with the other half to wal-mark the panty-hose were only a few bucks. Maybe something Kennedydiesel needs to think about stocking in the future!:muahaha:

I use the pantyhose for the K&N filter on my TRX250R. Roll it over acouple of times to make muliple layers, as it gets dirty just unroll the top layer. Cuts down on the cleaning. I also have three K&N filters for that bike for easy swaps.
