i ahve a 1985 GMC 6.2L diesel with a 4 speed with over drive standard transmission and the side cover was leaking oil BAD so i took it off and i knew the one shifter fork comes out so i was being careful and the damn thing popped out of the shifter detents so now i have to figure out how to hold the detent down and put the shift fork in at the same time anybody done this before? the trans is still in the truck and has no plans on comeing out and the truck has dual exhaust so a pipe is in the way but ill take it off if i have to any help appreciated thanks!!

any success fixing this? did brentbuilt industries find a fix?

oh christ. it was over a year and a half ago. i drilled a hole in the cover, pulled the detent arm up, stuck a nail in the hole to hold it, put the cover back on, then removed the nail and put JB weld in the hole to seal it. and so far no problems.
