I bought a pmd and a heat sinc from ss-diesel supply 10 months after installing it on the top of the engine I was having the same symptoms I e-mailed the guys at ss-diesel telling them my problem they said if I torqued the pmd ones every 6 months it would last the life of the truck. I'v read alot of posts that guys have putting pmds on there trucks more than once for the period that they have oned it. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth in what ss-diesel supply is telling me.

the setup ontop of the intake is probably one of the worst places to put the PMD.
Although I have my FSD/PMD there... I will get it moved when it goes out. Doubt that there is truth on what Walt said, but I'm not sure.

It's true (but only if your truck has a very short time left) :D

Sounds like Walt. He's a good salesman, and that's all. He scoffs at any other setup other than his own even when his has been proven to be the worst setup(even worse than stock). If you want a setup that really will last the life of your rig you can do two things.
Build your own setup(the SSD heatsink will work), seal it the from the elements(non-silicone sealant around PMD base and on each screw head), buy or build an extension cable(a 6 foot one usually works), and mount it behind the front bumper(there are holes you can bolt it to on the backside of the bumper).
The other option is to get a Heath PMD Isolator. 7 years free replacement warranty, that's a long time to not worry about it. I've had my heath setup for ~ a year now, and not even a hiccup out of it.

Since you already have the heat sink, just buy an extension harness.
I bought my truck (cheap) because the PO had the same intake mounted PMD setup you have now, and he couldn't figure out why it kept stalling.
Some kind souls here at the Place helped me to eliminate the possibility that something else was causing the stalling, then I bought a new 6 foot harness for $40 & re-mounted the PMD & heat sink in the front bumper. Fast, cheap, easy, and no more stalling.

Sometimes you can hand tight the transistor screw a few times and lengthen its life for a few months but it won't revive a cooked PMD to its original state.
Search for PMD and there are some thread explaining why you want your PMD to be outside the engine compartment. Simple heat transfer principle or 2nd law of thermodynamics.
