I have seen a door you can cut into your inner fender plastic, it gives you access to your filter without taking out the inner fender. Anyone know where I can get one?

I have not seen exactly what you are talking about, but I know my GF's 99 Bravada has an access door for the oil filter and I was thinking about "borrowing" it when she trades it in to do just what you are describing. Not sure if this helps or not....

I made one by cutting out a hole in the wheel well and putting a piece of thin mud flap over it using some wheel well fasteners.
It might not be the best looking but with the dual shock tower you dont even know its there.
It takes 5 minutes to change the filter

I have seen those on E-bay. Just type in Duramax.

Maybe you should try taking out the pass. side battery. Gives you more room and easier than taking the inner fender out.

I removed the rt. front tire, the I took my rt and left hand tin snips and made 2 cuts up the wheel well. this allows me with the wheel in place to left up the flap and remove the filter. I put on short sheet metal screw in the flap to hold it up while I do the filter, when finished, I remove the screw and push the flap back in place. No fancy sealing or water proofing needs to be done, in two years the inside has stayed clean and dry.

i have 1/4-20 ss bolts facing out with nylok nuts securing in place and have rest of bolt facing towards wheel, use another nylok nut to hold inplace, remove nuts and pull liner out, gives full access to side of engine and don't have to worry about parts flapping around.

I have seen those "trapdoors" on Ebay as well. Its actually an interesting idea, and Im a bit surprised GM didnt think of it in the first place. I'm not going to spend the
money on one, though, as Im not bothered by pulling the liner.
