: What Rebates ?!?!?
TheMonkey 04-15-2005, 09:41 AM i've been reading so much about how frothy the buyers market is right now. incentives and rebates.
the only rebate i'm seeing on the 6.6 is either $1k *or* good financing.
what am i missing? i figure that the best i can do is buy it from a friend who owns the dealership for $100 over invoice, and get the $1k back from gm (or finance it).
thanks.
pepperidge 04-15-2005, 09:59 AM At 3% hold back ($1530) on $51000 MSRP you would thinkhe'd give you a better deal than $100 over. I've heard of dealers going well into their holdback for a sale.
ask for $500 below invoice + you get the rebate as well and see if he'll do it..
There may even be some factory to dealer incentives that may be going on that he should pass along to you.

i hear you... but, the holdback thing is a bit of a hedge against the rebates. the hold back is basically gm's way of paying for the first few months of inventory costs. in a very high turnover environment where sales are hot, they have been more apt to dip into it. but times like now, when sales are slow, their inventory is costing them their entire hold back and it's no longer gravy. in times like this, is when they kick in rebates.
my point is, that i don't think we are getting either right now. $1k is not much incentive.
Bill Gisse 04-15-2005, 10:59 AM You need to shop around, I've heard of discounts up to 6-7K.

discounts off of what? invoice is about $6k off msrp.
what happened to the gm loyalty rebate? or any auto show coupons? this stuff usually gets stacked, but i'm not seeing much of anything.
doughboy 04-15-2005, 01:26 PM I bought at the end of March. I went with my friend's fleet guy and got $300 over invoice, $1000 rebate, 0% for 36, and a $500 Auto Show in Motion.
Every other dealer out here wanted at least a $1000 over invoice.

whidbey 04-15-2005, 01:56 PM On Monday I purchased a new 2500HD, CC, DA. 3000 in rerbates and 250 over invoice as listed on KBB. The rebates that I had were the Gas tank $1000, Hot button $1000, GM Email $500, and $500 GM Incentive. The only rebates I thought I had coming into the dear ws the gas tank and GM email.
DuckhunterInTN 04-15-2005, 02:22 PM what is the GM email you are talking about?
what is the Hot button?
TheMonkey 04-15-2005, 04:19 PM i just spent 2.5 hours at the dealer. i'm hungry. i hate going there.
here's what i found... they have a new pricing scheme at this dealer where they set the same pricing for everyone. no more benefit to being an acquaintence of the owner. in reference to invoice, some cars are priced a bit under invoice, some a bit over. the d/a cc 4x would be about 300 over.
the rebates would total 1,500. it was a combo of a 1,000 rebate and a 500 rebate. i'm not sure which ones from the post above these are.
i really want a bench seat, so i was looking at the LS. i basically would end up at 37-38k. the discount off of window was 6,750. i would then pay about 800 for an after market leather install.
sounds like a good deal, but buying close to invoice should always be available, and 1,500 rebates just isn't enough to get me to pull the trigger. it just didn't seem like a huge upgrade from my '02, and i love the styling of my '02 front end. i'll get my truck detailed and wait for the 6 speed.
or.... i heard something about a total re-styling in '07????? anyone know about that?
whidbey - are you in washington? what dealer was that? washington is probably where i would buy my next truck.
TheMonkey 04-15-2005, 04:20 PM and oh by the way.... the rebates on tahoe and suburban are $5k.
whidbey 04-15-2005, 08:24 PM I purchased the truck at Blade Chevy in Mt. Vernon. The email rebate is one I receved in my email from GM Don't ask me how I don't know how they got the email. the email starts off like this "Enjoy an exclusive $500 private offer toward your next GM vehicle. To get the most out of your GM offer: then it talks about the current offers and states that you must bring this email to recieve this offer. But it also stated "If you're having printing problems, call 1-866-872-4525, and select 1." so it might be worth a try to call the 800 number. The hot button rebate is worth 1000 the add states you click the onstar button in on of the truck. But I never did and they still gave me the grand off, so i think its and automatic rebate if your buying before the end of May.

neighbor! that would probably be the exact dealership i would use.
we will be moving to burlington in june, but will likely end up in seattle after a year.
thanks for the tips on the rebates. sounds like you got a great deal.
whidbey 04-15-2005, 08:52 PM Monkey, Blade is a good dealership to work with. one thing you would want to do is by the truck when you live in Burlington, If you live in Seattle the'll nail you with the transit tax on cars. just a thought.
