I just received my stix and was reading the directions in the DIY. It says to tap into the blue/white wire on the egr plug but later on it says not to cut the wire. How can you tap into that wire without cutting it so I can splice them together. That goes with all the wires. It says not to cut them but to tap into them. How can you do that? That is probably a stupid question I know. Thanx in advance

In other words, you don't want to cut them and connect both ends to different places (only the one cut wire is done that way, as directed). If you want to cut the wires, strip the ends and solder everything back together again - have at it. Just makes removal more difficult if ever needed.

Some ppl Probably used scotch locks or wire taps you can get them at the auto parts store. I wouldn't recommend them due to the harsh underhood conditions. I installed my Stick yesterday by stripping back a small amount of wire insulation and soldering the connections. There is however one wire that does need to be cut.

What I did was I went around the wires with a pocket knife but, be careful and cut slowly and only cut the insulation a little at a time until you feel the wire against the blade, then with a utility knife with a new blade I slit the insulation back 1/2 inch along the length of the wire. next I peeled the insulation back to expose the wire and cut of the excess. Took the fingers wires and stripped them back 1/2 inch and wrapped around the exposed wires with a cotton swab I applied some liquid flux to the bare wires, placed the soldiering iron under the connection placed the soldier on top of the bare wires and when it hits 450 degrees the soldier melts and the flux literaly "pulls the soldier" into the connection. It worked great for me!

Hope this heps

I installed the plate and finger stick just today.

Since I can't solder, I tapped the wire as described by chisuzu in the thread below - see post 22. I used a razor blade to shave the wire and work them apart a little bit. Stripped and split the stick wires and fed them through the hole in the shaved wire, then twisted them together. I used liquid tape on the tapped wires and heat shrink on the cut wires. Wrapped it all up with some tape and wire looms. So far so good - no codes.

I'm a little confused here....I noticed on the one thread concerning installation of the fingers, that a larger exhaust system will activate codes? Is that right? If so, I you install the fingers and have larger exhaust, wont the service tech know that you have changed something to accomodate the larger exhaust?? Maybe it's just me...Thanks for any input you may have.
