I am currently in Iraq and will be ordering an 06 D/A as soon as they are available to order. I want to get the DVD for the kids. My question is will the stock DVD play movies that are back-up copies on a DVD+R? I learned during my first deployment to Iraq that DVD's are very prone to scratching and being ruined so I now make a back-up copy of all the DVDs that I own. It is a good thing as my daughter has worn out a few of her favorites.

If it wont play then I will have to go aftermarket. Thanks

I've got several DVD recordables that I play in my truck. Our minivan WON'T though! Odd.

I never could get any to work in my truck.

Didn't DVD-R's get popular between 2003 and 2004? That could explain McRat and BBD's diffs. Also, could it be the quality of the recordings causing the problem?

I have been burning DVD's for the past couple of days. I have found that the +r do not work in the factory system and I have only burned 1 (my DVD burner crashed) in the -r format and it works??? I would have to try a few before I could be certain if it only uses the -r format.

I don't know anything about recordable DVDs, have no experience with them. But I DO know that certain CDRs will not play in the OEM CD deck. I had recorded some music onto CDRs for the same reason - they always seem to get scratched in the truck and on the road. One brand of CDR was very blue. That disc would not read in the truck although it read fine in my computers and on a couple of other CD players. Could have something to do with the DVD issue.

To make it even weirder, I bought a DVD from the store and the audio would not play in the truck. After burning a copy of it, the copy WOULD work.

I think the diff between my truck and the Minivan is that the minivan is an early 2004, while the truck is a late 2004. They use a different design DVD.
