Hey Guys, Im 16 and gettin a duramax around christmas. It'll anywhere from 01-05 depending on the deals i find with the lowest mileage. Now I'll be towing for my cousins huge dairy operation, but I'd really like to get into sled pulling. I plan on new trans, moded or dual cp3, intercooler, lift pump, injectors, exhaust, intake, turbo, etc. What would you guys recommend. What do you guys have good luck with. I'll be driving it alot but I have a jeep that'll I'll be running back and forth to school. If you guys could steer me towards the right direction. I'm doing my research a little early so I know what to get and have my mind set. Thanks guys

Well since you are 16 i would get a flame suit to put on since i'm sure you will have ppl tell you about owning a vehicle. Since i don't know your back ground i would say save your money to pay off the truck and for other things you might run into (like repairs, insurance, title and reg, fuel cost, ect). If you read here a lot of guys are pulling with the trucks stock with exhaust and a programmer. I would have fun with truck as it is now and upgrade down the road. So right now i would save your money for the unexpected.

Well I'll have the truck paid for probably right after i get it. We have a machine shop on the farm and a couple auto shops where my uncles/cousins bring their trucks in and get pretty good deals. But other than that i have a job and a steady income where i could start building up the truck.

well in that case build the trans suncoast IV would be nice and change the converter a suncoast 1056 and if you want a bigger stall 1055 (would not use that if you are going to have the truck on the street). Then since you have a machine shop work on making a good hitch, drive shaft loops, and spring clamps. Then just read the other posts on pulling. I know wisconsin has a lot of pulls. I live up by sheboygan but right now i'm not me second deployment to iraq.

Yeah. So suncoast tranny wise. What about injectors, intercooler, turbo, cp3? What else would I need?

you won't need much if you're pulling for your cousins diary operation lol! just kidding with you i assume you meant dairy. start off with suncoast tranny and torque converter, exhaust, nice efi, ppe, or tts tune, lift pump, braces up front and see how you like it. better to start small and efficient then go big and get discouraged. the guess work on setup is a lot less with 500rwhp then it is with 650+

Haha didnt see that mistake until now. Sounds good. Who makes the best big single turbo/twins? And intercooler also.

MPI. as far as trannys go, it doesn't matter what kind you have, ats, suncoast, whatever. if you push an allison hard enough for long enough it's gonna break or need a refresh eventually. u need to find somebody that is going to stand behind their product imho. since you're in wisconsin i would look up kennedy or huckstorf whichever is closest.

www.merchant-automotive.com Give him a call he is on this site too. He builds some crazy twin set-ups and single. He also will help you out with your trans and steering upgrades. He is also from MI so it is not to far.

the aurora 5000 by ats is a proven single turbo as well as the gt42r. don't have experience with ats tranny but myself and a number of my friends have suncoast with great success. who are you going to have build your engine? with the big hp numbers you'll be pushing you're gonna want to do rods and pistons at the very least. oh yeah and headstuds

If you can afford it, I suggest a LBZ truck (06-07) more power and it does not have the injector problems the LB7 does. My Opinion.

We had good luck with our LB7 (totaled) the injectors lasted until about 180k. But I'm to see what i can get, I'd like to get something with around 25-30k miles on it for a descent price. But it all depends on how the situation is, we are planning on moving into town and I could have an almost brand new truck. Like i said it all depends, this summer I will know for sure.
