What is that little tube and breather(?) that's sticking out from behind the left front fender liner and why is it spitting fluid all over the upper control arm? It's routed inside a wiring harness and I can't follow where it goes.

Is your truck a 4x4? If so, it could be the breather for the front axle. I would start with the fluid level if you do have 4x4.

Passenger side?

connected to a 90 degree rubber elbow on the firewall?

From the EVAP core?

Yep, it's 4x4...

Nope, it's on the driver's side...hanging down just below the fender liner...above the control arm and shock absorber...with a little plastic cap (vent?) on the end of the hose.

Front differential vent.

Leaking?

Have you or anyone changed the fluid?Lately?

Lately? Nope, it's been maybe 10-12,000 miles. Used the 4x for about 60 miles last month towing home in a snow storm. Discovered the leak during a stop last week after loosing a wheel weight in Texas.

Driving through deep water lately?(top of wheels) I would check fluid level, if it is high then drain and replace.

No...not that either. Nothing unusual in driving conditions. Used as a daily driver and tow vehicle for our 5er trips. It just started spitting.

I wash the truck frequently...including the wheel wells 'cause their so darned visible. Now, I've got oilly streaks on the fender liners from the leakage being thrown by the tire...besides about 500 miles of Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado bugs all over the front end.

So, any other ideas why it would just start spitting fluid?
