There seems to be a small leak coming from the drain plug in the oil pan. I changed my oil last time (for the first time) and tightened the drag plug as far as it would go. Is there something wrong?

Also, when draining the oil through the plug does it get all the used oil out? A previous post hinted that you need to take the oil pan off. Should I ask the dealer to specifically take the oil pan off for the oil change? If there is used oil left inside, how many quarts should I add? Thanks everyone.

It is not neccessary to remove the oil pan when you change oil.Your truck holds 10 quarts including filter.I have a small leal as well but it collects and drips where the transmission and engine are bolted together.Keep an eye on it but it may be coming from up above or could be residual from your last change.

danb0720---where in Vermont do you live? If it were me, I would change out the oil plug for a fumoto drain valve!! It would make an oil change alot easier!
