I bought a banks exhaust manifold and was planning on using a 6.5 turbo. The exhaust outlet on the 6.5 turbo hits the exhaust manifold.

I'm not 100% sure what the banks exhaust manifold looks like, but I'm pretty sure you can rotate the exhaust housing on the turbo the same as you rotate the compressor housing, anybody else want to verify that, I'm not at my shop right now so I can't check. Whether that is any help to you or not I don't know.

Here are some pictures of what I am dealing with.

Well, just got to the shop and I'm an idiot...the exhaust housing can't be rotated. I see your problem, the pictures really helped.

I just checked out some pictures of the ******* Turbo, and it looks like the exhaust elbow is able to rotate, and be clocked in different positions. If I remember correctly, they are around the same price as a GM-8 turbo, and I read they are better in almost every way.

The banks manifold is really only designed to work with the Banks turbo, that why it is the only one designed the way it is, you might be able to jerry-rig something up though.

I am curious where you purchased the exhaust manifold. I bought a used banks turbo setup for my 83 6.2 but the turbo kit is for a 6.5 so the exhaust manifold will not work with my application. I called banks and they want $500 for a new manifold and exhaust downpipe.

There are two three or so banks kits.

Early: 82-87 truck, 82-91 Blazer, 82-91 Suburban body style.

Late: 88-92 6.2L C/K Truck

Hummer: 94-95 H1 Hummer setup.

For a turbo for the above mentioned new manifold, you'll need a T04B turbo. I suggest looking for a Genuine Garett or Rotomaster turbo that has a P trim turbine wheel and around a 52-54mm compressor wheel. This is a pretty common turbo, just match up what you want for an exhaust outlet. The exhaust comes in many forms (downpipe): 4 bolt, v-band, no flange (weld), or the Banks (rare) 6-bolt round.

The flange on the manifold is a T3 flange.

If you're trying to piece this together, you're best off finding the whole (mostly complete) kit, as you're going to be hunting a bunch of parts.

Yes, the 6.5L turbocharger you've pictured (looks like a GM6 or GM8 turbo) ain't gonna work on that manifold (also notice threaded holes in manifold and on turbo...). Don't drill out Banks manifold though.
