: Hypertech
vettelovralexand 04-14-2005, 12:14 PM I have done quite a few searches on here looking into the actual results of the hypertech programmer. It would seem that the best i can come up with though is a set of baseline numbers for the stock LLY ranging from 240-265hp and 440-505lb-ft of torque with one member posting an increase of 87hp and 177lb-ft in stage 3(not sure if this is the result of dyno or just hypertech claims as the post simply says "87hp and 177lbft") So...my question to the forum is this, has anyone actually been on the dyno to see what the rear wheel hp and torque are with a hypertech on all 3 levels? At this point i have only the prior stated numbers to go by and don't have a dyno around to test for myself. Any good input would be appreciated.
Bodysurfer 04-14-2005, 12:54 PM I run HyperTech on L3 but also have BANKS cat-back and VOLANT air intake system. See my dyno numbers in my signature below. McRat told me that it looks like I am getting good numbers with HyperTech.
LATER!
hals73 04-14-2005, 08:25 PM I ran my truck last weekend down the 1/8 mile. Ran 9.8 @ 70.... equal to about a 15.3-15.4. This is with the Hypertech on level 3, K&N filter, and flowmaster with stock pipes. I don't have a clue what this truck would run stock. I forgot to add that my truck is an 05 Sierra 2500 CC 4x4.....
vettelovralexand 04-14-2005, 09:03 PM thanks for the info bodysurfer. I am still looking for information on the other two levels though.

When I first bought my 01 2500HD Ext/LB 4x4 I had
Air Raid Intake.
Magnaflow 4" Exhaust
Hypertech (Lv3)
285/75r16
I ran 15.4 at the track
I stacked a edge w/attitute but never took it to the track
I did beat a Nissan 350Z from 20-70
Destroyed a PT cruiser turbo
Obliviated a Dakota 5.9R/T
I sold that truck and bought a 3500
Here is mine.
I found a mint condition 02 with only 50k so I jumped on it. here are a few upgrades so far

Kennedy 04-15-2005, 11:01 AM Hypertech level 1 yields a 5HP DECREASE peak to peak and a lousy curve by my testing.-:t
machoosh 04-15-2005, 11:48 AM Everytime I see Hypertech in a thread I have to read it to see what comment Kennedy is gonna throw in, man does he hate Hypertech.....
I love mine, it gives all the power that I need ( my own opinion ) without worrying about damaging my stock trans., suppose it could it I put the hammer to down to much.
Love to feel the pull when you push the pedal down on stage 3 http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif .
Good post interested to see what numbers get posted, In my experience just going out on a quiet road and playing with all the settings I noticed differences in all 3 stages.
Kennedy 04-15-2005, 11:51 AM I'm just reporting what I found...
azmxer 04-15-2005, 04:29 PM machoosh,
Thats funny !!! I was going to say the same damn thing about Kennedy. He does chime in and bash on EVERY SINGLE post about hypertech. We get it you dont SELL or like hypertech. Anyway it works for me and they sell them at the dealership where I bought my truck and will cover any problems you have while using the hypertech.
nwpadmax 04-15-2005, 04:34 PM Who DOES like Hypertech?
It might just be that it's not popular, because several other tuners pretty much eat it for lunch.
I think John's just trying to say there are better options out there.
Scotty Seelen 04-15-2005, 04:38 PM Kennedy,
It's hard to believe you LOST horsepower on level 1. Dyno acting funny? Take a stock pickup and run it through the 1/4 mile using a g-tech. Stop and install Hypertech level 1. Run the truck again. I'll guarantee you won't be slower. Trust me.
bigchev 04-15-2005, 04:42 PM I'm just reporting what I found...It's good legitimate input like this that has value!
Thanks, Mr. Kennedy.:ro)

I will revisit this to see if it repeats, as I was moving through tuners quickly, BUT I did run it more than once...

That's funny- I was just thinking the same thing when I scrolled down and saw this post. I agree with the second paragraph too!;)
machoosh 04-20-2005, 04:12 PM Well i'm gonna try it....i have a friend that wants my hypertech so i sold it to him ( he sure is happy with it ) ...for almost the same price as the predator i ordered....so i well see the difference soon....i'm sure there well be more since the egt's go higher.
And I'm sure Kennedy's just trying to help....
Kennedy 04-21-2005, 11:50 AM I'll make the offer to anyone who would like to sanction the test of the Hypertech that they can personally apply the tunes to my LLY. I may be proven wrong, but you never know.
Remember, we are talking 05 LLY in my case...
Kennedy 05-17-2005, 03:54 PM Just FYI, the plot is here:

David Schear 05-18-2005, 02:34 AM It's not healthy to cover up your feelings Kennedy. Go ahead and tell us what you really think about the Hypertech.
ace777777777 06-18-2005, 03:22 PM in hypertech level 2 ,when i got the guts cut out of the cat , it felt like level 3, and in level 3, since i got the guts cut out of the cat the ets are lower and the power is great and i can tow on level 3 now because ets are lower the power is up ,the turbo whisltles now and the engine seems like everything is much easier , this truck runs like a beast .i wish all the other systems on this truck was like the drive train . 04 D/A lly

Phx450 07-08-2005, 05:46 PM Does anyone drive their truck in settings 1 or 2? I have had mine in 3 and love it but im curious about gas mileage in settings 1 and 2. I love the Hyper in 3 but would like to get a tad bit better gas mileage.
