I am new the whole 6.5 liter or even the diesel world. So needless the say that this is my first diesel that our family will own. I bought a 1997 Chevy K2500 with about 140,000 miles on. I am just woundering if you all might have some thoughts if I made a sound buy. I payed 5850.00 for. I am just hoping that it will last a while for it will just be driving around on the farm. It will pretty much be a farm truck, light hualing and light driving. Is it a dependable truck? Thanks...

they can be dependable if looked after properly
do the diagnostic checklist in my signature(purple link at the bottom i believe) and post it back...it will give us an idea what shape the truck is in.
also fill out your signature using other signatures as an example. the link for that is among the 4 at the bottom of my signature

Like burby said they are great trucks when you look after them. Im pretty sure i like mine more than my girlfriend. I've got a 97 myself and you will be pleased to know that although the 97's arent renowned for having the best block (piston oil squirters .. not so good) they were the first years to have the dual t-stat cooling upgrade i believe. Fill out your sig, maybe give us a couple pics. as for price, it's hard to tell what kind of deal you got. it's dependant on the condition, the features, and your location. welcome to the club, take care of her and she'll take care of you. cheers

I have had good luck with mine. I has been a great truck and I tow a 9000 lb. toyhauler quite often. Took it last March to Grand Canyon and back to Sacramento, CA(Home). with no problems and the Tehachippis were no problem. I don't think I will ever go back to gas.
