: What Gives w/Chebby Dealers?

Here in No.CA dealers are in mid/metro cities. I know they aren't the greatest (those in TX are really really nice) but I thot I'd found a local dealer that was better than most.

When installing the air-horn, noticed coolant on the front of the engine. I know its not the radiator but in its last 30days of std warranty thot I'd take it to my normal servicing dealer. Wrong ~ nada ~ I've a chebby and the GMC dealer that had been so good (for CA) in the past refused cross-warranty service. Guess I could understand that as GM is cracking down (and had several warranty reimbursement denials) but why are the local chebby dealers such aholes? One local dealer doesn't have body skills (like to adj doors) so they send work (like tell you to go yourself) to a local private body shop who demands cash up front to look at it. Claims the dealer will reimburse claims filed in triplcate & if valid after 90days of thinking about it. There is a good dealer (sort-of) in Sacramento but why can't the several local (within 16miles) good-wrench guys handle my warranty issues?

They claim too busy (talking 7~10days wait. Are chebbys that worse than GMC?) and they don't seem interested ~ wasn't this way in TX. The local GMC dealer is next day service worst case! Called GM Care and they couldn't/wouldn't help. Said I must use a chebby dealer. Ugh! Most seemed inconvenienced that I walked in the door.

My new neighbor from Seattle commented he noticed that customer service did not exist here in CA. Ordered his new dmax from a dealer back there.

Beginning to think I should have bought a GMC then placed a chebby power hump hood (the only difference) on it.

Yeah, most dealers are like that.. they are real pains in the asses when it comes to doing cross brands even though its the same car and they can do it. It's all up to the service writer whether or not he will accept it. Finally found me a GOOD dealer, and its an actual chevy one, but the guys there are cool handling my GMC.

Dont know what to tell you.. its a hit and miss game finding a good dealer.. Maybe others can chime in and refer you to a decent if not good one.

Appreciate your input !

Somehow, after interacting w/GMC and GM Service I feel like a third class citizen ~ sorta like 'nam thing in which I couldn't figure out what I did that was wrong ~ even sniffed my shoes after they reacted the way they did ~ couldn't find any doggy dukie on 'em

I'm not quite sure where Placer County is but I am in Fairfield, between Sacramento and San Francisco, and the Chevy Dealer just off Hwy 80 at the AirBase Parkway did me good. I had my NSBU switch go bad and most everyone on here told me good luck getting stealerships to accept the warrenty on this, because it is listed under the emissions warrenty. I brought the truck in, they looked at it, told me that switch was bad and it would cost me $355 for them to replace it. But because I had this forum to come to, I had already been armed with some information. All I asked them to do was look under the emissions sections of the warrenty and/or in the diesel supplement and verify for me. They called me back 30 minutes later and said sorry for the trouble, they will cover it under warrenty and they even paid for my rental with no questions asked. I was very impressed how polite they were about it and I told them they have a new customer. They also changed out my tailgate cables while it was in the shop.
