My truck has had some wierd starts every so often. This morning it was about 10 degrees and I start to crank it over and it kinda fires up but doesn't. Its like one cylinder is firing but not any other. Then eventually it fires up completely and runs fine.

I am tring to figure out what is going on. I just changed the fuel filter about 150 miles ago, I bled it really good. Haven't noticed any leaks. I put some anti-gel additive right before I fill it up. What can be causing this? The glow plugs seem to be working fine, there aren't any codes.

Somedays it fires up perfectly, other days it will skip a beat right in the beginning, and sometimes it does what it did this morning.

Once it is running it is golden, no surging, no sputtering, nothing.

Any thoughts?

Does sound like you might have caused a small leak when you changed the fuel filter. If you have a programmer look at fuel pressure during the crank and see if it builds quickly.

It was doing the same thing before I changed the filter. I don't have a programmer.

It was fine right after I changed the filter right up until yesterday when it was really cold. Does the fuel gel on the surface in the filter and once that passes through the system it is fine??
