I am looking at a 1988 blazer, 6.2, rebuilt 700r4, rebuilt rear end with posi, but the bad news is the engine has a knock. The guy says he had it rebuilt a few years back, and they were beefing up the crank and grinding it back down but apparently didn't do a good enough job. This caused a bearing to blow, which caused the knock.

My question is how much would it take to get this running again?

If you DIY under a thou if all you need is a crank and brgs, but a teardown will tell the real story. I never heard of Beefing up a crank on these engines,regrind yes.

thanks for the reply. What are the chances that with a blown bearing and engine knock, there are other major issues with the engine?

guessing aint gonna do you any good, you will have to do a complete teardown anyway cause there's gonna be bearing grit everywhere,including the oilpump and suction screen.
