2005 F-250 PSD with a whopping 8000 miles.

4 bad injectors
2 turbochargers
2 EGR valves
1 idle kicker switch

Blows blue smoke
Premature combustion
Leaking oil
Faulty programming

All this good stuff for only 54,000.00

Did I forget to mention I get a cool 12mpg

Somebody pinch me cause I must be Dreaming.

How many forums you gonna post this in?

Get the dealer to buy it back.

That's BS. They should buy it back.

Looks like your service department only has parts changers instead of qualified technitions.

I am going through it right now with an 04. Not fun!

Most problems come from the service technition not being qualified. Many people buy from a dealer because of price then find out the service department is not so good. I have 4 Ford dealers in a 15 mile radius of me and I will only let one dealer do anything to my truck if it has a recall or upgrade. Same with the Gm dealers in my area. I do not buy for the best deal but I know the service I get is good. Sure would be nice to know how some larger dealers stay in business the way they treat the mechanics as well as the public. Being forced into flat rate is not a good situation.

New trucks are not supposed to go back to the shop to visit the technician.:exactly:
I know there are a few bad ones in every bunch, but the 6.0's have had more than their fair share.:badidea:

Hey Maximum, are you on the Ford-Truck.com forum with the black reg. cab? I use to be on there, if thats your truck it is very sharp.:thumb:

Yup 98 percent of all Fords are still on the road today. 2 percent of them made it home.

Actually to tell the truth here....I am a Chevrolet person driving a Ford...why?
Cause GM did not listen to me and I have owned GM trucks from the beginning in the early 70's. I have not had a problem since I bought my Ford and now I own the second one. To each his own but I know better when someone wants to throw BS my way.

sounds like a nightmare
Why is that? Make it plain and simple. You have owned both a GM product and Ford? Are you here just to talk trash?

I will not throw BS your way, it smells like s***.
I have never owned a Ford, never got that drunk):h

I have driven several Ford company trucks.
Lets start with a brand new 99 250 7.3 six speed.
The truck would drink oil, 2 gallons every 5k
Transfer case trashed at 10k
It would not go in the mud no where as good as the 94 2500 6.5T, with the same exact tires. I dont want to hear no BS about abusing the truck.

2000 450 superduty's 7.3 6speed. Three trucks with three seperate drivers.

Plastic around throw out bearings, each truck had no less than 10 clutch failure by 100k
Injector failures one after another.
Ball joints every 15k
Brake issues
Poor fuel mileage, V10 450's got better.
Turbos
If you had a breakdown with one truck, better order 3X every part number, because it was going to happen.

Dont go blow snot on me over the blue oval.

You want another quote for the ole man. While driving on the company trucks, he told me "Son if you ever pick up a woman while driving that Ford, and she offers you some, reject it. I asked why, he said if she is willing to bang you even though she saw driving a ford, you dont want none, because she would bang just anybody:eek:

He said that I was better off hanging out at the barn:sheephump

Coalbucket I owned a 6.5 and a 7.3.....wanna guess which one made 200,000 miles with normal service? I kept a fuel pump behind the seat for a spare in one truck and another on dealer order at all times. Care to guess which engine it was for? 6.5 or 7.3?

I purchased my first new GM in 1975 so I am guessing that truck is older than you are considering your post.

I am a 1975 model. Yes the DS4 was a piece of s****. Still have a 93 with a DB2 4911 on it with almost 190K on the clock. One pump put on at 117859 due to a bad lift pump. 317 bucks, that is less than one 7.3 HEUI injector.

Not tring to be a smart a$$, but I have never dealt with a 7.3 powerstroke or a 6.0 that has given any good service. Now the old 6.9 & 7.3 IDI are another story. Those were tough old engines.

Not total against Fords, I can get one on the "A" plan which is a huge savings. Thought about getting a 6.0 in 2003 just because of the savings, just happy I did not.

Glad to see your interested in talking trucks now. The only time I shift is in the Pete.....I know guys with 99 Ford standards did have problems with the bearing and clutch. I never owned one so I could not say what exactly changed.

I have a 6.0L with a late May of 03 build date.....no problems.

a Peterbilt, you a CAT, Cummins, or a Detroit guy. I have been PAR cert. for a while on Cat's. The updated clutch that was being put in the 450's was supposed to be the same as the ones in the '02's Bad design is all I know.

Maxium4x4
04-29-2005, 06:36 PM
I have owned all 3....I really liked the high revs out the Detroits from the old days......But the Pete is Cat. I even drove a 903 nothing Cummins...lol but never owned one.

Aftermarket companies make a bullet proof clutch and bearing for the Powerstroke manual guys.

Ran and built several 12V71 and 12V92 scream demons. Built on Western Star glider and put a 3408 in a single frame tractor with 40 Rockwells on air. There is on KW in the eastern side of the state that hauls equipment, D11's 992G's that has a 3412 twin turbo out of a 992C with 65k Mack rears. It is a bad boy.

The good ole Mark V BB. I have a 82 6.2 that the truck was man. in Nov. of 81 making it one of the first 6.2 built. The 93 6.5T with 4911 pump would make it the first of the era of 6.5's. The 03 6.6L was not the first of the LB7's, if I could of afforded it in 01, I would of had one. I have no complains about the engines even though none of them have stock fuel settings or timing.;)http://www.kydtr.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10195/normal_IMG_0694.JPG (javascript:;)

Coalbucket....nice pic of the truck. I still have the "White Rhino" around 1988 GMC CC DW 2 WD. Did some head work last year on it (454 FI) passes everything but a gas station.

I chucked 3 IFS fronts, 1 IFS in my 89 one ton so I traded it off thinking newer is better and GM would have the bugs out, Lol....2 more in my last truck. I also joined the alternator of month club and had the heater fan replaced once every six months for the annoying chirp at low setting.

The 88 keeps on going except the radio quit last month....... now I have to listen to the passenger side air bag (wife) so I should get that fixed right away.

Isn't it a good thing to have "air bags" on the passenger side? LOL
