From what I have seen and heard is go with the GM Extended Factory Protection Plan. I had a GE on a Dodge, and it had so many stipulations in it, it was almost like no warranty at all.

I checked the GM warranty, they won't touch it with more than 36000 miles.

I am currently looking at "Warranty Warehouse" (http://warrantywarehouse.com/index.php?qid=203397&srcid=0) and "Warranties 4 Wheels" (http://www.warranties4wheels.com/) both seem to have their pro's and con's.
Any other warranties worth comparing?

I have one from continental warrenty. I have not had to use it so I really do not have any recommendations. I did search around quite a bit and obviously thought theirs was the best, but..... The telephone number is 1 888 2440925. I bought my truck used (2003) it had about 55,000 miles, The warrenty is till 105,000 (4 years, I think) and covers transmission, engine, ac, differential. also, lodging for 3 days, hotel etc. The cost was $1700. I mainly got it because my truck was used for delivery and a large storage van was towed by it. I was skeptical of the transmission, though I have put almost 20,000 miles on it and everything has been fine. I think I pay a $100 deductable for each visit. You can dicker with them a little on the price, pay it all up front and get a discount etc.

Dont do business with any place or company that does not have a physical address. Check out that address on google and with the BBB. A while back, this "industry" was full of scams.

avoid Warranty Gold ... a while back the declared bankruptcy and left thousands of us holding the bag one day and then went right back to selling to other folks, isn't our court system that allows this to go on really a wonderful thing -:t ... AAA has a pretty good one and is a stable outfit

I don't remember the company it was with but we had an extended warranty on a 97 f250. the engine went bad and they tried every trick in the book to not pay. We had to show them receipts (entries in a log would not work) for every oil&filter change and air filter change. If we did not have a receipt for an oil change every 3000 miles and an air filter every 6000 they were going to deny us. Luckily we had all this information and made them pay but like it was stated above in my experience they will try to weasel out of everything.

Whitlow,
the thought just struck me. A few years back I bought a Corvette from a GMC dealer. The warranty was expired on the car and as a part of our deal, he provided me with a warranty for one year and it was through an outside company. It was a good warranty and I used it. It had a 50$ co-pay for each repair type visit. Ask your dealer.

I agree with JEBar, Avoid Warranty Gold. When I was shopping for one on my Dmax about 18 months ago, Warranty Gold was going through the bankruptcy. Yet they were trying to sell me a policy.

On my wife's car, we have Universal Underwriters Group. I have used it once on a claim of about $300 and they were fine. Might be a tougher on bigger claims.

On my truck, I have National Auto Care "Pinnacle" Plan. I got 6 years and 75,000 miles (from the current odom. reading) for $1300. While I haven't used them yet, I am hopeful that they are a good company. My credit union sold this plan and I talked to the president directly and she put a lot faith in them.

BUT, I have yet to use it (and hopefully never will). So take it for what its worth.
Good luck and hope you never have to use one.

Did you find a plan that you like? I got an offer in the mail for the GM extended warranty for about $1k on my truck (I have less than 24k miles) and I'm wondering if it's considered a "good idea" to get one on these vehicles. No problems so far, but a $5k injector bill is scary.

What does it cover and for how many miles? I have 3k miles on my truck and was wondering if I could purchase an extended warranty for lets say 5 yrs and 100k miles on everything else since the motor is covered for 100k miles..

Either go without a warranty or buy one from your insurance company.

How did you manage that?
They are claiming that you cannot purchase anything through them if you have over 36K miles.

I just purchased a 2003 D/A and my dealer told me I had a couple of months before I had to make a decision on extended warranty.
Well I went in for my first oil change the other day and I have 37000 miles and they said I have to get an aftermarket warranty, and I cannot extend the bumper to bumper..

Most insurances companies will pay for major repairs if you have I think it is comprehensive insurance. Call your insurance agent up and ask.

I know guys whos insurance paid for new engines, transmissions and other major repairs.

I purchased a GM extended warranty plan for about 1000 for my truck. Good to 75,000 miles and 5 years I believe.

Statistically, you are unlikely to recoup any of your extended warranty costs in the form of claims. Extended warranties are a huge profit center for dealerships. The fine print which is standard with most extended warranties exclude you from collecting on some covered repairs. I found this out the hard way. In general, the only purpose an extended warranty serves is to make you feel better. Put $2000 in the bank and self insure.
