I've been looking at getting a diesel for a while, found a 07 classic ccsb 4x4 with 30k miles on it that was in a crash. I have not looked at it yet he said there was no frame damage and replaced the hood, grille, both fenders but they need to be painted yet and a few other finishing pieces. he is asking 14,800 obo what do you guys think. Also this is a lbz engine without all the egr crap if i am correct which is what im looking for. thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like a good deal but double check that everything is good and in working order before you buy. Good luck.
if i knew that a vehicle was in an accident, i couldn't buy it.
......mind games .... tainted goods.
it would bug me too much

Me either.
I've had 2 trucks over the course of my life that have been involved in accidents. (For whatever reason, I always seem to be the moving target. ) Nevertheless, neither truck was ever 'right' after being repaired. I used only the very best body shops and still the trucks were always little off. Fit and finish were slightly tainted, doors closures weren't smooth, tires would wear unevenly over time, etc., etc. No matter how good the body shops are or how hard they try, they can never put Humpty Dumpty exactly back together again.
So never again. I will never own another repaired vehicle. I simply can't live with the impurities.

For that much of a savings i could live with a little imperfection. Now if i was paying full price for a truck then i wouldn't want it to be wrecked. Some body shops are better than others though. They may have a good paint guy but a not so good frame guy. Crumple zones built into the vehicle need to remain intact to help in case of another accident.

As long as the frame is actually ok,sounds like a good price to me if he used gm fenders and hood. Some of those aftermarketfenders are pretty crappy.

Drive it and see what it feels like. See if you can get pictures of the accident. To wipe out the grill and both fenders means it took a pretty good hit. My wife ran my truck head on into a guardrail at 15 to 20 MPH and it only took out the bumper trans cooler and some other brackets in the front end. $2K to fix.
The price is really tempting. Tempting enough to really make me think something is wrong with that thing! If that truck wasn't in an accident then it is worth $25K so why are you getting a $10K discount. Just your lucky day????

If it doesn't have frame or (and this is a big OR) suspension damage go for it. In my opinion it is easier to have frame damage fixed on a frame jig than to repair/replace suspension components because in my experience the mounting holes elongate or deform and I can never get the same factory ride pre accident. This is just my experience feel free to disagree.

Yeah i know what you guys mean about a truck never being quite right after a crash, it bothers me too but the price is really tempting. I found this on craigslist and the truck is only about 20 miles away so i will go check it out myself when i get back from yellowstone. From what he said he went in the ditch and hit something kinda high up with the front, as the bumper didn't have to be replaced, but ya it must have been a pretty good hit to have to replace all the front end body parts.

Thats cheaper than what we paid for our rebuilt 2007. I think this is like the 4th or 5th rebuilt vehicle we've bought and so far we've had good luck with them. If you knw who rebuilt it and they do good work I say buy it.
