I'm looking at this scanner http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16150 it can read PIDs, does anyone know if it will read injector balance rates?

Thanks,

Wheatfield.

What kind of scanner would you recommend to read balance rates? And where is the best place to get it at?

For about $350 you could get a PC based Scan tool from www.obd2.com with will interface with EVERY controller onboard (ECP, TCM, DDM, PDM, Radio, RSE, HVAC... The list is pretty long). V4.1 is due to be released in May, which will support up to MY2004.5. Cool stuff, if you ask me. As soon as 4.1 is released, I'm going to upgrade mine so I can acually scan my truck.

The last time I contacted obd2.com, I was told they did not have the Duramax or the Allison in their scan tool program. Has that changed?

The last time I contacted obd2.com, I was told they did not have the Duramax or the Allison in their scan tool program. Has that changed?I was communicating with an Ease Tech today, and was told that V4.1 will support up to 2004.5 LLY Duramaxes, and I brought a few things to their attention such as the way the balance rates read in the tool, which lists them as either inches or mm, instead of percents, and the TCM is listed as for a 4L80E transmission. They are calling GM to find out what the deal is. Below is the list of controllers that the new scan tool can interface with, with Bi-Directional controls either in the first release or in an update.

By the way, the version of the tool (v3) does support up to MY2001 and the LB7 Duramax. It just doesn't list the transmission right. Tell it 5 speed auto, and it claims the controller is for a 4L80E.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

I didn't realise there where that many controllers! I knew at least 6, but about 16!

I just got another update from Ease, and they just got the 2000-2004 Allison signal set from GM, so that will be in the V4.1 scan tool. They're waiting on hearing about the Injector balance rates.

Thankful
