so i installed the blocker plate checked for leaks didnt feel any or hear any until i was getting on the freeway and then i heard it sqauking when i would mash down the peddal. so i know there is a leak ill work on that when the truck cools down. my other thing is i have no ses light. i have the finger stick but i wanted to see if it would work with out it and i dont know. how do u really tell if you have a code or not. do you always have to have the finger stick if you block the egr unless you have efi

not to sound sarcastic..but when the light comes on. the computer stores codes with no light, but if they are tripped enough it will turn the light on to tell the driver something is serious if this keeps repeating.

you may not get the egr code right away, but you probably will soon.

ya i know that it sometimes take some cycles for it to trip. i was just wondering if anyone has done this without putting the finger in with it.

Many have done it without a FS. They have a FE9 truck. Check you build codes in your glove box. You probably have a federal truck.

I have a fe9 truck also. My EGR is blocked without a fingerstick. It has been for about 20K miles and have never tripped the light once. Same with removing the kitty. I don't think it has even stored any codes.I had it at the dealer to replace the #2 injector plug and the tech never mentioned anything about egr codes. Kinda figure they wouldn't pass up trying to make extra bucks with unneeded repairs with the general in thier current financial state. I'm not saying all techs and dealers would do that but I was waiting to hear something about it.
